one of my favorite things in the new game is that krolmeister makes computers now and has ads posted all around for cybersecurity. like, the stove/radio/pinball machine company makes computers. its a very cute little thing, watching this world evolve.

first three hours done, so here are some thoughts:

- the classic point-and-click mode is just as bad as, if not worse than, it was in mid. thankfully, the modern mode is easy to adjust to and hasn’t given me any problems. deeply disappointing though because i love the classic.

- some of the character models seem way better than others… specifically in the hair area. it just seems that some characters got more attention than others. it’s not the worst thing, but again… a little disappointing?

- so far, the mini-games and puzzles have been fun! i like the latte making aspect, there was a computer puzzle that felt very classic nancy drew to me, and nothing has been overly convoluted like some of the later additions to the series tended to be.

- the mystery IS interesting. they seemed to have put a lot of work into involving the location into the story and i’m doing a lot of reading and not hating it, so that’s always a plus!

- but on the topic of reading and therefore writing… the dialogue is a bit… clunky in places. sometimes the delivery seems off, like clearly the voice actor didn’t hear the line before it spoken aloud? i don’t find that totally out of character for these games, though.

overall, not a bad starting feeling. i turned it off to go to bed and i’m still thinking about it and i’m confident i’ll go back to it, so it’s not a total loss!
