ONE ( NAME / ALIAS ):  Wisty TWO ( BIRTHDAY ):  feb 16, 1996 THREE ( ZODIAC SIGN ): Aquarius FOUR ( HEIGHT ): 5′6″ FIVE ( HOBBIES ):   i like to read... a lot.... and write so that counts as two. i also like to work on things in my spare time   (  half of my family is made up of mechanics )   and ... sleep. which isn’t five but you know what close enough . i also like to research a lot into paranormal shit SIX ( FAVOURITE COLOUR(S) ):  orange is my absolute favorite but i like neutral / earthy colors  SEVEN ( FAVOURITE BOOKS ):   blood and chocolate has beautiful prose and hit me right off the bat when i read it. im also an absolute sucker for the six of c.rows duology. a room of one’s own is ... an essay but the prose Still Gets Me and often enough strikes inspiration.             HE’D  LEFT  HOURS  AGO ,    back  when  the  trucks  had  first  pulled  up  through  the  dust  and  gravel  to  get  him .  back  when  the  sun  was  still  high  in  the  sky ,  bordering  on  the  tail  end  of  afternoon .  for  a  while ,  nick  didn’t  think  he’d  come  back .  he  can  still  feel  the   damage   with  each  breath  he  takes .  each   beat   of  his  heart ,  echoed  with  each  step  he  takes  up  the  porch  to  the  front  door .  a  wince  pulls  strong  and  vicious  when  he  pushes  through ,  the  old  creak  announcing  his  entrance . 

it  happens  in  an  instant :   the  second  that  the  door  closes  and  he  sees  kim    (  alive  and  safe ,  and  god  that’s  all  that  fuckin’  matters  in  the  end .  )    the  line  to  his  shoulders  tenses  and  relaxes .  in  the  low  light ,  for  this  second ,  he  hopes  she  can’t  see  the   blood   that  still stains  him .  the  way  he  bends  to  ease  his  pain .

            ❝  HEY  NOW ,  I  KNOW  THAT . ❞         nick  laughs  under  his  breath ,  something  quiet ,  but  not  at  all  dulled  by  the  smile  that  he  mirrors .  no ,  kim  lights  up  the  room  with  her  own ,  and  he  could  only   hope   that  his  matches .  nick  tugs  her  closer  after  a  moment .

❝  now  hope  ain’t  that  bad ,  and  keiko ?  ❞     kim  laces  their  fingers  together  and  nick  squeezes  her  hand  in  turn .  he  pauses  to  turn  the  name  over  in  his  mind ,  to  test  it  under  his  breath  again .  it’s  followed  by  him  leaning  enough  to  brush  a  start  of  a  kiss  to  her  temple .

•      kim  is  nick’s   EVERYTHING .    she’s  his  rock ,  his  anchor ,  and  often  times  his  second  voice  of  reason .  she  has  been  since  they  met   ——   and  going  with  that ,  she’s  a  big  push  as  to  why  he  is  who  he  is  now .  he  grew  up  with  a   BROKEN  HOME   ( his  parents  argued .  he  found  solace  in  a  screen .  he  was  quiet  and  reserved  for  the  longest  time ,  not  wanting  to  speak  out  of  turn ,  not  wanting  to  make  things  worse  for  anyone .  )    but  kim  was  someone  he  got  along  easy  with .   she  was down  to  earth ,  spoke  what  she  felt ,  and  he  thought  that  the  best  damn  thing .  he  thought  her  the  best  thing  to  happen ,  and  he  mirrored  it :   she  smiled  and  he  grinned .  she  spoke  and  he  matched  it .  ended  up  breaking  further  out  of  his  shell  to  who  he  is  now   ——    she  helped  him  get  to  a  point  where  he  wasn’t   afraid  to  put  his  foot  down  and  say  he  wasn’t  following  his  family  to  join  the  military .  she  helped  him  prioritize  what  he  wanted  over  what  others  wanted  for  him .  

•      he’s  a  hopeless  romantic  :   third  date  in  and  he  knows  he  wants  to  marry  her .  he  knows  after  taking  her  up  in  the  air ,  after  allowing  her  further  into  his  world ,  that  she’s  the  one  he  wants  to  spend  his  time  with .  that  kimiko ,  in  all  her  ways  of  making  the  world  seem  that  much  brighter ,  in  all  the  ways  of  her  making  nick  feel  like  his  heart  is  going  to  jump  right  out  of  his  ribs ,  is  the  only  person  he  wants  to  stay  with .  for  the  rest  of  the  day .  for  longer  after  that .  the  revelation  hits  him  and  knocks  the  wind  from  his  lungs  when  they’re  both  two  feet  on  the  ground  after  the  flight ,  when  she  looks  at  him ,  and  all  he  can  think  of  doing  is   kiss   her .    (  she’s  the  only  one  he  even  wants  to  consider  being  with .  another  thought  that  settles  and  remains ,  even  when  he  rests  his  forehead  against  hers ,  and  apologizes  for  the  sudden  move .  )

•       prior  to  the  project  seeming  like  a   THREAT ,   nick  would  say  that  he  and  john  were   FRIENDS .  out  of  all  of  the  siblings ,  nick  thought  he  was  the   nicest .  rough  around  the  edges ,  sure ,  but  he’d  argue  that  everyone  is .  thought  that  maybe  with  moving  from  clear  out  in  georgia  to  the  hills  of  montana ,  he  might  just  need  someone  to  talk  to  and  help  settle  in .  a  couple  of  conversations  in ,  and  nick  offers  to  be  a  SHOULDER  if  john  ever  needs  it .  to  talk  to  him  if  anything’s  bothering  him .  invites  him  over ,  takes  an  interest  in  their  shared  hobby .  hell ,  give  ‘em  a  couple  of  months ,  and  maybe  for  a  second ,  nick  thinks  about  calling  him  his  kid’s  godfather .    (  for  a  while  there ,  he  thinks  of  john  as  extended  family .  his  door  was  open  to  him .  ) 

•       john  gets  a  second  chance .  a  third .  each  press  of  joining  the  PROJECT ,  nick  gives  him  the  benefit  of  the  doubt  for  a  while .  meets  words  with  HONESTY  of  his  own .   (  the  last  plea  is  what  makes  the  rift ;  the  note  left  at  the  porch  earns  a  face  to  face  conversation .  )     but  the  second  that  john  makes  any  hint  of  a   threat   or  any  shove  towards  kim ,  towards  his  child ,  nick  is  all  teeth  and  unabashed  resistance .  his  family  comes  before  anything  else   ——   when  that  bridge  is  burned ,  there’s  no  room  for  discussion  left .  nick  believes  in  mirroring  civility  for  civility ;   he  matches  john  with  each  step ,  up  until  the  end .    (  bittersweet .  nick  tells  john  that  he  trusted  him ,  and  he  did .  nick  tells  him  if  he  sets  foot  on  his  land  again ,  it  isn’t  going  to  end  pretty .  even  in  the  end ,  nick  gives  him  a  chance  to  turn  around  and  leave  without  it  getting  messy  in  a  last  show  of  truce .  )
