Made the 10+ hour drive home. Today, we went to the Folk Festival with my middle brother. It was hot, but we had fun. I was so excited to have the kids square dance with me. They loved it!
Keith got to live his dream yesterday. The kids who can ride bikes all said they wanted to go trail riding with him. He’s been waiting for this moment since Kai was born. The trail wasn’t very technical, but it was wet. They all had a lot of fun, and the kids were very proud they managed to do 5 miles.
While they were riding, Mariah and Renna joined me on a hike. We had a delightful time. It was misty, but nothing awful.
After we got the kids home and washed and fed, we snuck off for dinner. It was really nice to get away with him. And the food and drinks were fantastic.
The kids were all crashed when we got home. Kai is such a good babysitter.
My baby started riding her bike yesterday. Super proud of her.
My oldest has become a woman, at least biologically. I am not ready. She was just my baby, there’s no way she’s old enough to be entering into her teens and all that stuff. I’m so eager and excited to see who she grows into, but damn. It’s hard letting them grow up.
The kids’ Girl Scout troop hosted a Mother’s Day tea yesterday. It was one of the sweetest events I’ve ever been too, and I’m very thankful that their troop put so much into it.
Twenty years ago, I had a crush on my friend’s older brother. I’d never met him, just heard stories and saw pictures.
And then he came home for a weekend in May. I’d like to say it was pure romance, but it was more two horny, drunk 21 year olds just looking for some fun.
It’s absolutely insane to me we found our way back to each other after we’d had time to grow, and that we’re together and happy so many years later.
My best friend is in Paris. And this is one of the reasons we’re best friends. We’ve know each other since we were 5/8. Our moms were best friends, she’s basically my sister. And we share all the same family jokes. I just love her.
