I find it very upsetting that there are so many stupid people out there enjoying the Birbenheimer meme and I fear for the future of this world.

It is true that the Japanese military committed many atrocities and there were citizens who supported them, but that does not mean that it is okay to drop such horrible weapons. The bombed areas were where the citizens lived. It is the citizens, not the military, who have suffered from this damage. Among the Hibakusha(A-bomb victim) were newborn babies and small children, as well as Korean and Chinese residents in Japan. And not only people, but also plants, trees, fish, dogs and cats died. Those who were near the blast centre were scattered by the blast and disappeared as if they had evaporated, leaving their shadows on the ground and walls like stains. Those who were barely breathing, their skin blistered and moaning for water, jumped into the river, which in turn filled up with dead people. Nuclear weapons are very frightening. The way people are making “barbenheimer” art with cheerful depictions of mushroom clouds is really disturbing to me. Those bombs killed hundreds of thousand in Japan, not to mention the people in the US who were directly affected by the research and testing without ever being made aware of the true danger. It really strikes me that people have become all too removed from the horrors of nuclear war and the testing and deployment of these weapons. 

So please, before you decide to go draw pink mushroom clouds for lols, maybe read up on all the people they’ve killed, whether instantly or slowly.
