Not dead, yet!

It’s been a loooong time. I am getting back into simming (for real, this time), and I have a huge pile of hair default replacements that I’d like to share. Looks like the community is into Remi v3 or Io’s hair textures, but I still like Lilith’s. Variety is the spice of life, right?

Of course, a quick peek onto TS2 defaults shows me there are new meshes that have been defaulted, so I’m itching to check them out and retexture. But I just spent a week updating my default clothing (and of course, finding new shinies I just had to have!), and my Creative Cloud sub is not active, so that will be a project for another time.

I don’t know what happened to the SimFileShare code I got all those years ago, but I’ve requested a new one. I may have used a now-dead email address? Or maybe I never uploaded anything to it, so it got purged? Anyway, If I get one, I will re-upload my previous to SFS, and then (fingers crossed), start sharing more.

I’ve taken from this community for so long, and I live in fear TS2 may eventually die. We will only keep it alive if we keep creating and sharing, so it’s time to give back!

Got an invite code to Sim File Share, thanks to simgaroop! This is such an awesome thing that has been created - it’s exactly what simmers need. I am fortunate that my tumblr is still in its infancy, so it won’t take me long to move everything over and post new links. I have a rare weekend off, so look for updates, and maybe even some more defaults posted this weekend!

(PS - the model is the sim in my profile picture. Her nose is a little on the big side, but she’s absolutely adorable in game. I created her and all my other models using Pooklet’s random townie technique.)

Got this from pixelswirl, originally defaulted by revallsay. Lilith'd it with my Pooklet-Poppet combo. I think it might look nicer with another highlight up at the center part, but I am not great with transforming/blending highlights yet.

Default of corntuck. Originally defaulted by pixel-sticks, retextured in Lilith’s texture by keoni, then the brown recolored to Poppet's MM shade (with just a smidge less contrast) by me.

I’m back.

Of course, it’s not like I was gone or anything. There are still many things to do related to my father's death, but I have to have something in my life that's for me. Simming is my outlet, and this is the first time I've tackled a big sharing project like this. So, it's important that I get back to it. :)

Anyway, here we go again! I neglected to mention before that I'm going to be posting the default replacements more or less in the order you see on the default database. I feel like I'm learning how to post to tumblr all over again, but I should have 1 or 2 defaults posted by the end of the day, and then (fingers crossed) you'll start to see a more steady stream of uploads.

Okay, onto the serious part.

This is zundieapp’s default of the Maxis aline mesh in Lilith’s edit of Remi’s base game texture (which I shall henceforth call Lilith’s re-Remi), in the following colors:

Black: Pooklet's Dynamite

Brown: Poppet's MM (because Depth Charge has too much contrast for my preferences)

Blond: Pooklet's Incendiary

Red: Pooklet's Molotov

Grey: Pooklet's Mail Bomb

This is *my* chosen color palette. If you prefer another set of textures/palettes, please feel free to retexture/recolor yourself. I have an open policy. Do what you like with what I've done. Once I'm done, it's done, as far as I'm concerned. Credit is neither requested nor required.

I apologize that the front texture highlights don't really line up. I simply did my best to follow what zundieapp did. I'm not the world's greatest retexturer!

I've also included my "base" .DDS file, which are Lilith's textures in Pooklet's Volatile, which many actions use as a base. If they don't (such as Poppet's), simply try desaturating if it needs a desat base.

Incidentally, I'd never retextured a hair until less than a month ago. "Do, or do not. There is no try." May I suggest Poppet's tutorial? 

Since I used the DDS method of retexturing, there may be extra TXTR files, which may contribute to bloat. I didn't feel confident enough to try deleting them. If you're an experienced retexturer and you know it's all good to delete them *and* it'll help reduce filesize, please let me know. I hate bloat.

Just getting this up and running. I'm working on a default hair retexturing project using Lilith's edit of Remi's texture in Pooklet colors. If it continues to go well, I'll start posting them in the near-ish future. Stay tuned!
