As of now, Florida and Kansas have passed bills that align with KOSA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
So many people have held back on speaking out against KOSA or signing petitions because "it probably won't pass." But we have proof that it very well can and will.
So what can we do right now?
The same thing we've been doing: bring awareness and protest.
Here are a few websites you can visit to sign petitions:
https://www.badinternetbills.com/
https://www.stopkosa.com/
https://www.eff.org/deeplinks/2024/02/dont-fall-latest-changes-dangerous-kids-online-safety-act
You can also call your state reps. This post explains how you can do that.
Good luck, everyone! Don't give up yet.

I know it's April Fools but this post isn't a joke.
KOSA will do more harm than help for minors. The government will decide what content will be filtered for users under 18, including topics about LGBTQ+ and #free Palestine.
This bill literally violates the first amendment and I don't know why people are agreeing to it. FFS even my parents agree with it and it hurts so much.
Read this article for more info.
I am begging you to sign as many petitions as you can. Call your representatives. Reblog posts just like this one. Use the #stop kosa tags when you're reblogging it so we can get it trending.
If you need to talk about topics like Palestine, LGBTQ+, etc. on the media, then we cannot let this bill pass.
Don't give up hope. There's still a lot for the bill to go through before it can become a law.
STOP KOSA.

Me and my friend watched a video on all the Miraculous Ladybug Transformations from Seasons 1-4, and ranked them based on three main criteria; Presentation of the Transformation, Creativity of the Costume and Iconic-ness. Feel free to comment your own opinions down below(be nice and respectful-of course)and try this out for yourself if you would like. It was pretty fun!

"The Don't Say Gay Law has been cut down to size in more ways than this.
- LGBTQ+ students and staff may now be protected by anti-bullying and anti-discrimination measures
- Libraries are free to restock LGBTQ+ books
- LGBTQ+ topics may be discussed freely
GO CRY IN A CORNER RON

Hey, maybe you don’t use tiktok anymore. Maybe its gone to shit. Maybe you think banning it isn’t a big deal.
Don’t let tiktok get banned. Because its not about tiktok or kids online or any of that. Its about how many rights can be taken away from us, how far these officials and congressman can go, how much power they can accrue without us fighting back.
Do you know why KOSA is back for a fucking third time in a much tamer form? Because they are trying their hardest to pass it. It doesn’t keep anyone safe, and even if the newest version had anything good in it, It still shouldn’t be pushed through because of its horrible history.
We all know that if we give them an inch, they’ll take a mile. I know its exhausting, but they WANT to exhaust us. So don’t let them. Fight.

as a kid on the Internet, KOSA will not "keep me safe" it will alienate me,it will censor me, it will make it harder to find people like me.
KOSA doesn't care about protecting kids, it cares about deleting people

I think the best way to fight this AI shit is just to support actual creators. The cat's out of the bag with AI; our data's going to be taken and used without our consent whether we like it or not, so maybe we should put efforts into holding up those who create their own stuff. Comment/interact on people's writings and art. Make it worth them posting; make it clear that what the people are interested in isn't generated stuff, but things that people have actually done themselves. It's a drop in the ocean, but showing creators that it's them that deserve the support at least serves to cut off a tiny bit of oxygen to these AI hogs - and make a difference to creatives who are trying against hope to share with a community.

when you call your reps to ask them to pretty please stop taking away your rights, remember:
In deep red areas you're a republican who is thinking of voting for someone else if they don't vote what you want on this specific bill because it impacts your republican ideals so very much
In swing states you're an undecided voter who's gonna go blue if they don't vote how you like
remember to call because that way their phone is going off and their peers can hear it because their offices are close together (emails and letters don't work like that), so it can rattle them if they get high volumes. remember that you gotta make them feel like they're losing something.

CNN is facing a backlash from its own staff over editorial policies they say have led to a regurgitation of Israeli propaganda and the censoring of Palestinians perspectives in the network’s coverage of the war in Gaza.
Journalists in CNN newsrooms in the US and overseas say broadcasts have been skewed by management edicts and a story-approval process that has resulted in highly partial coverage of the Hamas massacre on 7 October and Israel’s retaliatory attack on Gaza.
“The majority of news since the war began, regardless of how accurate the initial reporting, has been skewed by a systemic and institutional bias within the network toward Israel,” said one CNN staffer. “Ultimately, CNN’s coverage of the Israel-Gaza war amounts to journalistic malpractice.”
According to accounts from six CNN staffers in multiple newsrooms, and more than a dozen internal memos and emails obtained by the Guardian, daily news decisions are shaped by a flow of directives from the CNN headquarters in Atlanta that have set strict guidelines on coverage.
They include tight restrictions on quoting Hamas and reporting other Palestinian perspectives while Israel government statements are taken at face value. In addition, every story on the conflict must be cleared by the Jerusalem bureau before broadcast or publication.

As always, the Irish speak nothing but facts.
How many more innocent civilians have to be killed by Israel before you condemn that for it?
That is a genocide.
That this is a crime on all accounts.
And deserves to be punished to the full extent off the law.

The “you don’t have to be Muslim to stand with Palestine” phrase has always made me uncomfortable because for one, even though I am a Palestinian Muslim and I am happy to see so many people in the ummah supporting Palestine, it ultimately reads as supporting one *kind* of Palestinian.
Islamophobia is a huge factor in demonizing Palestinians, yes, and a lot of Palestinians are indeed Muslim and have used Islam as a form of resistance against the occupation, but (and I have said this before) it’s islamophobia rooted in hatred of Palestinians as indigenous people. All Palestinians, Muslim or not, even Arab or not, are considered to be a threat and are treated as such. It’s not *just* islamophobia, addressing it as just islamophobia is neglecting the other factors of Palestinian oppression.
Palestinian Christians in Gaza are under extreme threat as they compose a small population and many were killed in the recent Israeli bombing of Saint Porphyrius church, additionally, Israeli settlers have been trying steal land belonging to the Armenian Palestinian community in the Armenian quarter of the old city of Jerusalem.
Something I will make note of is that I want to see more Muslims not only learning to include Palestinians of other faiths or backgrounds in their language, but also using the same breath they speak about Palestine to also speak about Sudan, Tigray, Syria, Armenia, Western Sahara, West Papua, Congo, etc. many of our struggles are connected and we cannot be free until we are all free.
