ok reading further into visual snow and CEVs it’s so strange to me. like I legitimately thought everyone had this ‘screensaver’ in their brain if you close your eyes and this was the baseline human condition 24/7. turns out not everybody sees like..a vague kaleidoscope of shadows and occasional rippling colour changes when they close their eyes even when 10000% sober? i’m learning so much lol
this is one of the closer simulation gifs i found, mine’s less vivid usually, maybe like 30% of this opacity
look i’m gonna be as nice about this as i can but i genuinely earnestly think the reason we have a whole generation of queer teens happily begging for table scraps from the walt disney corporation is because no one listens to welcome to night vale anymore. wtnv was a generations introduction to explicit positive queer rep, and for some people, myself included, queer rep at all. and it sets the bar at a reasonable place. from the first episode, our narrator, a man, is outright stated to be in love with another man. this is taken seriously, and treated as healthy and normal, rather than secret or shameful. once you have that, you can’t go back to crumbs. and you certainly can’t go back to pretending crumbs are a four course meal.
Originally, the value of currencies was based on certain commodities, like gold. After the invention of the fiat system, the value of currencies were pegged to the value of the US dollar, which drew its value from oil. This current development, a response to the global economic and energy crisis, is a move away from the fiat system, to a new system of currency - and whatever its value is de jure pegged to, it will be, de facto, pegged to the cost of energy itself, rather than a specific energy-producing commodity.
There is, in fact, already a type of currency which derives its value directly from the cost of energy. A type of currency whose creation is not driven solely by central banks - and thus not vulnerable to the sorts of economic issues currently arising, as the global political fracture splits the finance market down the middle - but driven by the usage and availability of energy. One that is, already, entirely digital. Cryptocurrency. In fact, the executive order instructing research into the creation of a ‘digital dollar’ is a report, principally, on cryptocurrency. Crypto stocks have skyrocketed.
May god have mercy on our fucking souls, we’re moving from the petrodollar to one orders of magnitude worse for the environment. The report from investment strategy firm Credit Suisse had, even before this executive order, perhaps put it best:
Amazing, that the west that accused China of ‘vaccine diplomacy’ for… donating vaccines to poor countries, is the same one doing this. Honestly, sickening.
