This mosque is almost 3 centuries old and located in Pasuruan city. It is estimated that the Al Anwar Grand Mosque was founded in 1759 AD by the great cleric of Pasuruan, Kyai Hasan Sanusi, more popularly as Mbah Slagah. The Al Anwar Grand Mosque covers an area of 3,770 square meters. Pasuruan residents are more familiar with the Al Anwar Grand Mosque than the Jami' Mosque. This white mosque is decorated with green carvings and Islamic calligraphy. In the middle of the mosque, there is a large white dome. There is also a mosque minaret on the south side which consists of 3 levels. The tower rooms functioned as a library, medical center, and administrative office. Pada halaman 43 dari disertasinya yang lalu jadi buku bertajuk ''Politik Hukum di Indonesia'' (cetakan ke-5, 2012), Mahfud MD merujuk ke karya Kahin ''Nationalism and Revolution in Indonesia'' (1952). Mahfud menyebut, ''..Soebardjo untuk menjadikan Partai Persatuan Nasional yang dipimpinnya sebagai partai tunggal..''. Catatan kaki (footnote) halaman ini merujuk pada halaman 151-153 ''Nationalism and Revolution in Indonesia'' (1952). Setelah mencermati seksama ke halaman karya asli Kahin yang dirujuk Mahfud MD, ternyata sama sekali tak ditemukan nama partai politik bentukan Soebardjo (atau Subardjo). Halaman 151, Kahin menulis: ''...in creating a single authoritarian political party'' (dalam menciptakan satu partai politik otoriter). Sedangkan pada halaman 153, Kahin menulis:''...Specifically they sought to destroy the formidable political machine being built up by Subardjo..'' (Secara khusus mereka berusaha menghancurkan mesin politik tangguh yang sedang dibangun oleh Subardjo). Sedangkan karya B J Boland ''The Struggle of Islam in Modern Indonesia'' (1982) halaman 41 yang juga dirujuk Mahfud MD, juga tidak ditemukan nama ''Partai Persatuan Nasional''. Sekadar catatan sejarah perbandingan. Jong Islamieten Bond (JIB) dibentuk pada 1 Januari 1925. Dua tokoh muslim di balik organisasi proto-intelektual ini, yaitu Hadji Agoes Salim dan Samsurijal. Sedangkan Jamaah Ikhwanul Muslimin baru dibentuk Hasan al Banna di Mesir pada tahun 1928. Jadi, kesadaran eksistensial cum geopolitik muslim Hindia-Belanda (kelak menjadi nama Indonesia) mendahului kesadaran muslim Mesir. Perbandingan ini tentu akan ditolak mereka pengikut Ikhwanul Muslimin dengan berbagai dalih, namun fakta sejarah tak mungkin dipungkiri. Selain itu, para penggerak JIB sudah terbiasa dalam kemajemukan. Terbiasa berdebat logis-rasional. Polyglot. Terbuka dalam perbedaan pendapat.
