There's a post going around Tumblr about how if you're post-menopausal and have bleeding, you should get it checked by your doctor. I brought some minor bleeding I'd had up in a doctor visit earlier this year, prompted by that post, and this week, after a biopsy, I found out I have cancer. It's early stage and the survival odds at 5 years are 99%. I have an oncologist appointment and we may have caught it early enough that surgery alone will be sufficient treatment (no radiation/chemo).

So that post may have saved my life and it may have made my treatment a lot easier too.

If you get into menopause and then start bleeding again, really, get your reproductive innards checked out. The life you save may be your own.

Did you write Running From Perdition?

If so, I'd love to know more about the poem itself, and what running means to you. As a long-distance runner who had life-changing friendships through it, the poem speaks to me beat for beat. I love it terribly, and thank you

It’s been just over ten years since I’d run my last ultramarathon, which is what this poem laments. I used to run these crazy long distances in all kinds of weather with my now ex-wife.

It’s funny that you’ve found this poem and does speak to you. For me, running with my ex was more than therapy. We grew together because of running our asses off and then drinking them off, only to run them off again. When the running stopped, so did our love. I’ve now been on another adventure, alone, for the last 8+ years. No running but lots of heavy lifting is required.

But, yes, I miss running and the pure ritual of being stripped bare, especially with someone I trusted loved so much.

Thank you for bringing this to me. Thank you for your kindness as well.

As a brown trans boy it sucked so badly to watch those “gender envy” slides on tik tok and see only white boys with fluffy hair. It was a little thing but it made me feel invisible even in my own community. So these are men that look like me and give me gender envy. If you’re POC disabled/ don’t see your self in common trans discussions feel free to add on.

If youre a black woman and you ever find yourself in a public conflict with a white woman I want you to try something, cry first. Cry first. Cry like you’ve never cried before. You be the damsel in distress first. I did this in accident once (I was genuinely in distress) and when I tell you this white bitch looked like she was going to self destruct. She was damn near shaking as people were being nice to me and ignoring her. She even tried to start crying herself to see if her old tricks would work but it was too late. I was the damsel in distress and she was the bitch. I’ll never forget that interaction as long as I live.
