Schizochroal eye(s) of my Phacops rana trilobite (about 380 million years old) (nowadays properly renamed as Eldredgeops rana). Each eye had its own convex calcite lens that tapered to a concave point (kinda like how a cartoon teardrop ends in a point) that helped reduce birefringence edge color and distortion effects (a lens techinque opticians only mastered a couple hundred years ago). The lenses were not close packed like insect eyes but were separated, as seen in the picture, by deep âscleraâ and trait unique to the Phacops order. Picture was made with my new $15 digital microscope camera. Â
So I'm usually an "everything scientific" kind of guy. I tweeted a few times about plasma life, but there isn't enough room on the site that does tweets for what I want to say once I get going. There is a big search going on these days looking for life out in space. Alien life. Searchers are looking for "life as we know it". Thatâs carbon based life which requires liquid water and sources of energy. They think that life will be found in the growing goldilocks niches being found in the universe. I think theyâre right but I also think that the search is being focused way too narrowly. Plasma is the most common, by far, phase of the kind of matter we know about in our universe. Plasma life would operate on super fast time to go along with super fast plasma interactions and those reactions would be a energies that would destroy chemical reactions. A plasma life form would have fingers using lightning bolt energies in thier touch receptors. They wouldnât even sense chemical life even if their time perceptions could be slowed enough to notice us. The reverse of this would be true for us trying to sense them. What is the particle structure of lightning or the sun? But letâs look for plasma life somehow, thatâs where the universal action is at.
yup --- I am one of the old people and I attest to the fact that my ellipses are being totally misinterpreted --- Iâll never user them again --- I guess I should always have been using dashes --- ---for all my previous ellipses please only read in to them either a âvisual space markingâ or âa continued thought without any negative, down, grumpy connotation of any kind impliedâ. Someone needs to dis-invent generations.
old people really need to learn how to text accurately to the mood theyâre trying to represent like my boss texted me wondering when my semester is over so she can start scheduling me more hours and i was like my finals are done the 15th! And she texts back âYay for youâŠ.â how the fuck am i supposed to interpret that besides passive aggressive
