We had great weather on our trip as evidenced by the skies in Madrid on our last day. Only 2 hours of rain our first night in Segovia. Daytime temperatures did fluctuate from 60 to 85 degrees. We have a 12:40 nonstop flight tomorrow.

Top left is a very little local wine bar Patti found behind our hotel. Bottom photo is of Vermouth drinks at a small bar well known for their Vermouth. Glass misted with gin, vermouth, bitters served over ice. Taste similar to a Manhattan.

After we went to one of the many mega Zara stores we walked around the Palace grounds. Lunch that day was at a very small restaurant that is famous for salted cod. Delicious.

Not only are the buildings in Madrid beautiful the City abounds in wonderful parks. We walked thru Retiro park which is landscaped impeccably. Park is 350 acres about half the size of Central Park.

We dropped the car off at Madrid airport. We had probably the best driving experiences in Europe ever. Never got lost, parking never a problem, no backed up traffic jams and Patti did a great job navigating with a little assistance from Apple Maps. Buildings in Madrid are beautiful.

One of the more famous Pintxos bars is La Vina. People come from all over the world to try their cheese cake. I had the cheese cake 4 times.

We stayed at the Londres Hotel in San Sebastián. Its a beautiful vibrant seaside town where hundreds of people stroll the boardwalk well into the evening.

On our way to San Sebastián we stayed at a very attractive beach side town. Biarritz. Surfing is big here. A lot of people on the beach as we are bundled up in our puffers. Lower picture is view from our window.

Our Saint Emilion hotel’s finishes were impeccable and view from our breakfast table was nice. The owner’s also owned a winery which made very good wine.

Saint Emilion is a quaint little village with a LOT of wine merchants. We enjoyed a very accommodating tasting at one of them. Also some of the worst cobble stone streets we have encountered.

Checked into our hotel in Saint Emilion and were pleased to find how nice it was. Only 6 rooms in a converted old military garrison. It’s the building to the left of the church. Great view of vineyards from our window.

The winery is noted for their red themed restaurant on the roof. La Terrasse Rouge was very good and we enjoyed a bottle of their wine.

We departed the Left Bank for Saint Emilion, on the Right Bank, which was a little over an hour drive. Before going to our hotel we stopped at La Dominique winery to eat lunch.
