Back in the days before Ricardo worked at the citadel, he went through a phase of starting up dozens of different short lived space garage punk bands. The shortest lived but possibly best of these was The Chicken Nuggets, a ten piece band of absolute musical chaos that produced one EP record and played a single disastrously explosive concert. Standing among the wreckage of that show’s audience was a young, fresh off his home planet for the first time, unscathed and wide eyed Lob who thought it was the best performance art he’d ever seen. Ricardo and Squanchy promptly portal out of that mess, and formed The Flesh Curtains shortly thereafter. Lob runs the only surviving review blog for The Chicken Nuggets and eventually decides to track down what the remaining members of the band are up to these days, ending up at a Flesh Curtains show. While it lacks the full bodied nuances of the old ten piece act, he enjoys the concert and manages to sneak his way to backstage after to try and meet his music heroes. He ends up catching the guitarist’s eye and gets invited to the after party. Lob is bright orange after all, which in Ricardo’s books counts as being a redhead. He’s also the first fan Ricardo’s met who seems to show actual genuine interest in getting to know him as a person rather than the usual ‘just in it for the sex with a rock star’ groupies or creepy celebrity stalkers he’s used to dealing with. Deciding he likes his new little orange buddy, Ricardo starts bringing Lob along to all their inter-dimensional shows, and from there things turn into the first somewhat stable ongoing relationship the punk janitor’s ever really had.

Lob first saw Ricardo in concert when he was in his late twenties, but they don’t actually meet & date till he’s roughly around 40-something.

There had to have been a few dimensions where the forecast didn’t call for some deus ex machina torrential rain to come save that pickle from dying in the sun. Just saying.

Been working on something that required designing a young adult Ricardo pre-janitor era (and just a few years shy of his hair turning that signature Rick shade of blue). I liked how this test sketch turned out so I cleaned it up.

Do I think Ricardo would multitask writing lyrics while on shift, ignore his work pager while recording, and play guitar along side a meticulously translated and synthesized alien language vocal track made for his fav tiny orange? 

Nah. Probably not. Of course he would.
