CHOOSE CONSCIOUSLY WHAT YOU WEAR
Tumblr media
We are going to make you a quick guide to materials used in the production of clothes, harmful and environmentally friendly, and recommend which clothing stores to choose.
Examples of environmentally unfriendly fabrics:
Nylon is a synthetic fabric that belongs to the polyamide group. The material itself is pleasant to the touch and is resistant to external factors and creases. Due to the ease with which nylon can be dyed, it is often used for swimwear or sportswear This material has several disadvantages. Due to the lack of ventilation, no air is let through which leads to sweating and great discomfort while wearing. This material is considered to be easily allergenic so it is not recommended for people with allergies. Additionally, when nylon is manufactured, large amounts of nitrogen oxide are released and float into the atmosphere. A large amount of water is also used in production, which has a negative impact on the environment
Viscose is also a synthetic material often considered eco-friendly. At first glance, this may be the case, but on closer inspection, it is not. Why? Although viscose is considered to be a derivative of cotton or silk, in fact during labour-intensive chemical processing a lot of chemical compounds hazardous to health and the environment are used. Viscose is mainly made of cellulose from coniferous trees and also contains carbon disulphide and harmful sulphuric acid. After production is complete, toxic waste is disposed of to water. This leads to the death of many animals. When choosing clothes made of viscose, we should consciously look for clothes with a certificate, which will give us the assurance that there were not many side effects during the production of the material
And now we’d like to share some eco-friendly fabrics:
Linen It is a completely natural and ecological material. Its properties such as ventilation and lightness are the reason why the garment is readily purchased. It is the most often chosen fabric for summer due to its hygroscopicity and resistance to damage. The great advantage of this material is that no waste is generated during production as every part of the plant can be used. In addition, flax improves soil fertilization during cultivation, which has a positive impact on the environment and our planet.
Bamboo Another great option for long-lasting eco-friendly material is bamboo. Bamboo trees grow very fast and are very beneficial for the environment due to the high absorption of carbon dioxide. There is also no need to use toxic chemical treatments because bamboo fibres are naturally anti-bacterial. Production, as well as cultivation, requires less water comparing to, for example, cotton. Clothes made out of bamboo are a perfect choice for summertime as well because they absorb moisture from our skin and dry quickly. The material itself is very soft to the touch and its texture is similar to the silk one.

CARE MORE BUY LESS ♥
Tumblr media
These days when lots of pollution is produced it is good to think twice before you buy something.
The garment industry has become a cause of increased carbon emissions. The reason is the production of the clothing itself, where chemicals are used, and the transportation. Part of making clothes is dyeing and finishing them, which requires a lot of water. Unfortunately, after the whole process, it ends up in rivers and then in the ocean, where it threatens the health of humans and animals.
In order to prevent further development of contamination associated with clothing, there are certain steps that need to be taken.
It is a good idea to eliminate clothes that are created from artificial fabrics and replace them with eco-friendly materials.
Unnecessary clothes can be given to the needy, to second-hand stores or sold on websites designed for this purpose. Remember to take care of your clothes, wash them at the right temperature and chemistry. Thanks to our care, we will avoid damaging the clothes, so there will be no need to buy new ones so often.
That is why if you get bored with your clothes, we encourage you to try creating something new from them first 🥰
