Sharrkan: Ja'far, I need you help
Ja'far: with what?
Sharrkan: I want to earn Masrur’s respect. How did you do it?
Ja'far: Stabbed myself in the chest trying to kill myself.
Sharrkan: 😐

Hey guys! I went to the new Snb store in Shibuya today. I took pictures for everyone, but there were some parts I wasn’t allowed to take pictures of. I took a lot so there will be two posts! Second post here Enjoy!! :D
The machine lets you print postcard type photos of scenes you like from Snb or Magi.
Then the last two photos are of a message board where anyone could draw or write whatever they want about Sinbad! :D

Masrur probably has a lot of respect for Ja'far because, I mean, Ja'far is clearly ready to die in order to save Masrur’s life from pretty early on. For someone who was a slave, that probably means a heck of a lot.

Sindria Week 3/3: The Eight Generals
Two of Sindria’s Eight Generals, Jafar and Masrur, have the peculiar distinction of being characters from the 1001 Nights who are actually real historical people.  So to close out Sindria Week, let’s talk about these two and the some of the other companions, of Caliph Harun al-Rashid (785 – 809 AD).
Jafar al-Barmaki: The third generation of the Barmaks to serve as vizer, Jafar was Harun’s closest advisor and favorite drinking companion.  He was celebrated in his own time as an accomplished orator, judge, writer, and patron of the arts.  According to legend, he was also scary efficient, making in one night over a thousand legal decisions, all of which the caliph approved.
[Note: A full biography is here, but there are several pieces of information on the other side which I personally think will be relevant in MAGI. So, fair warning.]
Abu Hashim Masrur: Not exactly a courtier, Masrur was an African eunuch slave who served as the Caliph’s bodyguard and executioner, hence why MAGI’s Masrur was originally intended to be black.  It may also be why Sharrkan’s go-to insult is ‘no balls’.

I must admit I got emotional while watching the first episode of Orient. It simply looks amazing and reminds me of Magi, for obvious reasons. The opening theme is great, too. Not sure I will get into it as deeply as into Magi and I still hope for season 3.. but supporting any of Ohtaka Shinobu's work comes first, I guess?

I adored Snb’s new chapter…. Ja’far offers his hand to Masrur as consolation but also as a sign of: time to return home together.
Tumblr media
Masrur obviously holds it (it’s also not the first time Ja’far takes Masrur by the hand)
Tumblr media
I like this panel because we know both of them have almost the same height but it looks as if Ja’far was much taller, which might suggest Ja’far is not only older but somewhat like an adult Masrur can rely on. I know it’s too soon to point it out but it already looks like Ja’far is an important parental figure in Masrur’s life. Masrur already sees Ja’far as someone above him rather than an equal. He reacts to Ja’far’s concern about wanting him to be educated, safe, protected and likes it. He wants to become someone better to respond to Ja’far’s feelings (talking about the omake in which Masrur flees from Rurumu’s classes).
But of course Ja’far isn’t the only one trying to comfort Masrur, Sin is doing the same. Sin is obviously another adult Masrur can rely on and a potential parental figure for him.
Tumblr media
I like this one a lot too because it’s more obvious that Ja’far was offering his hand as consolation since they let go of each other after reaching Sin, who pats Masrur’s back.
Masrur gives up the Fanalis and accepts Sinbad and co. as his home. Sinbad and Ja’far being the ones that comfort him and welcome him back. Well it was already stated on the tegaki that Masrur responds to Sin and Ja’far equally. It really looks like Masrur sees both of them as his parents.
Well, I exaggerated things for sure but that’s how all these tiny panels made me feel. (Images’ source)

Since you're so awesome with headcanons may I pls have some for Morgiana and Ja'far? they are my precious babs and they need to interact more. *crIES*
I actually think that Ja’far and Morgiana would get along very well as both are calm but hide a storm within. Plus, both are very loyal to their chosen kings. Those two actually share a few similarities. ^.^
When Ja’far first met Morgiana he noticed a few similarities between them (both being abused as children and also forced to fight from a very young age) so he could easily relate and understand her.
Then he remembered how important Rurumu’s influence had been for him and that unlike him Morgiana never had any maternal or paternal figure in her life. So at some point in Sindria, he told her that she could  come to him if she ever needed someone’s advice or just an adult being there for her (mama! Ja’far feels are strong).
Ja’far is the one who taught Morgiana how to write. Morgiana was very embarrassed at the beginning because she kept making mistakes but Ja’far never yelled to her. Instead he explained things over and over until she was able to get it.
Now when he receives letters written by Morgiana, Ja’far feels a certain kind of pride within.
Btw, the fact that those two made a great fighting team during the Balbadd arc makes me want to think that they still trained sometimes together during Morgiana’s stay in Sindria. Of course, Ja’far is a busy man and Masrur is Morgiana’s teacher but it wouldn’t hurt her to train with Ja’far, too once in a while.

this is kind of random but most countries in magi are based off real countries and i was wondering if there are any theories on where ja'far might be from? i like the idea of him/his family not originally being from parthevia but i have no idea how to start trying to find what country he/they could be from from that time period;;; if that makes sense...orz
Yo’ anon
Ahhhhh sadly I also have no idea and I also haven’t heard about HCs about their original country. It’s hard to know. Their traits are too unique. Well Ja’far’s traits are too unique. My initial thought was they are from Partevia ofc, it’s difficult to think about other countries.
We don’t know what main characteristics people from other countries have. Ohtaka has put some but they are not clear. I mean Sinbad has purple hair and he was born in Partevia, so do Meiers and Doron. In contrast the royal family, Seren and probably Ceylan, have pink hair. The military family has green hair. Aside from that all citizens look pretty much the same, tanned/white skin, black/brown/light brown hair.  We know that Artemyra, Sasan, Heliohapt and Immchak do not welcome outsiders well so their races aren’t mixed, therefore it’s easy to know Ja’far’s parents don’t come from those. I don’t think they are from Kou either, but they could be from Reim, since Reim is a very big empire. There are also isolated republics like Qishan and…another country was mentioned by Alibaba but I’m lazy to look it up. Well I also doubt they come from Kina. Maybe Musta’sim? Though we don’t know much about that country yet, we only know about Mogamett’s story. Dunya and Yamu who are both people form nobility have a blueish hair color. What else do we have? Balbadd could be an option, but then we are left with the Aktia Kingdom and other foreign countries. We also have the Fanalis, the Yambala, the Kouga clan and Toran Tribe but it’s impossible they come from those imo.
Whenever Ohtaka writes about Ja’far’s home country, she writes “Unknown”. I used to find it funny but now that I learnt from the fanbook that Ohtaka says Ja’far’s home is Sinbad’s side and she seems to want him not to have a home country, it makes sense. I’m amazed that she not only said that once in the fanbook. I remembered that in each character’s section form the book, there is a tiny map pointing to their initial location. In Ja’far’s section the map points to Partevia but it only talks about Sham Lash. Then AGAIN it is mentioned that the moment Sinbad saved Ja’far, his home became Sinbad’s side. Now that I found that twice, I’m starting to hope we’ll see more about it in Magi’s plot.
Hmm so I think his parents might either come from a foreign country, Reim, Partevia or countries like Qishan or Balbadd, but I find it hard to think they come form somewhere else. Futhermore Ja’far has low tolerance to the sun and heat, so maybe one of his parents come from a country with a colder weather. That would leave most of the countries we know out of our list of possible countries. Unless a colder country is presented later.
Anyway, thanks for the ask, it’s a very interesting question!

Magi As Pinned Messages From My Discord DMs
i figured it was time to make this. ive gathered enough
~~ Alibaba, after Morgiana shows him her newly acquired labret and helix piercings that Myron did for her: The piercings... Morgiana, you're too powerful to be kept alive.
~~
Mystras: God gives the worst battles to the silliest of clowns... But therefore, we gain more experience in the world. Yes.
~~
Kougyoku, after hearing about how Sinbad got robbed and then met Morgiana and Aladdin: Me after Toto seduces me and robs me of all my money.
~~
Alibaba, who was given dinner duty, to Hakuryuu: I had to take potatoes out of the water I had just put them in to cut them again and now my cutting board and knife is wetter than Sinbad's fangirls.
Hakuryuu, regretting offering to help, grimacing: I really didn't need to hear that.
~~
Pisti, watching Morgiana and Kougyoku spar: WOMEN👏WITH👏ABS👏
~~
Morgiana, a pin collector, texting: wait let me cunt how many pins I have rq
Morgiana: ah
Alibaba: That was disastrous
~~
Ja'far, watching Yamraiha and Sharrkan dance around eachother for the nth time: They're both idiots in this scene.
~~
Sharrkan, looking at Yamraiha's progress on whatever magic theory she's coming up with this time: I am honest to the gods so terrified of the finished product of this. Keep going, it looks great.
~~
Pisti: Sinbad plucked them off to add to his own. He steals people's eyebrows; that’s how he gains power.
~~
Alibaba: What if you got your friend-making ability from your dad?
Aladdin: Well, I definitely didn't get it from Ugo!
~~
Kougyoku, about Sinbad: He has a djinn equip, he can fly. Or they can all carry him. I'm sure Sinbad has made Masrur carry him before.
Hakuryuu: He can steal Kouen's wheelchair.
~~
Toto, watching a frazzled Alibaba walk in: Is Alibaba alright?
Alibaba, very obviously not alright: Muu walked by without his shirt on. I let out an audible "Oh my gods, he’s gorgeous."
~~
Hakuei, inexplicably: All of these are so pretty, and then there's just... Kou Empire disco.
~~
Drakon, texting with his giant lizard fingers, yet trying to use proper grammar: Anyeayway, asd peoimiswed,
~~
Alibaba, bawling his eyes out: Yeah, sex is cool and all, but have you ever read through Sinbad's the Adventures of Sinbad at 3:00 AM and sobbed your eyes out?
Judar:
Judar:
Judar: Are you okay?
Judar: And please consider that I, Judar, the fallen Magi, am the one asking this.
~~
Muu, pointing aggressively at Scheherazade: I KNOW YOU'RE DYING.
(just so y'all know, that ^ was the entire actual message)
~~
(bonus bc this one cant exactly be made into an incorrect quote)
are u ready for tbe daily magi dumb

I‘m a little confused who are these four magi that approved of Alibaba..?
Yunan, Scheherazade, Aladdin, Judar. (there might be more like Titus i dont remember)
Like, all three at some point have said that Alibaba is like the perfect King's Candidate (not in the same way Sinbad is tho)
So while not all of them were in full "support" of Alibaba like they didn't help him become a king like aladdin did they all agreed that he's the best king :D
