My 18-month CAS experience allowed me to grow as a person and develop plenty of useful, important skills. Each CAS component gave me a new perspective to a specific area of life: activity helped me understand the importance of persistence and consistency, creativity allowed me to explore new things and be bold within the things I chose to create, and service helped me look at global issues and notions from a much more personal point of view.
Moreover, I believe that my CAS experience could be defined by the word “exploration”. I truly explored and tried so many new things! After the ending of my CAS project, I started looking for different activities to try and I loved so many of them – I started regularly participating in Zumba classes and pursued an interest in voguing, having the incredible chance to walk my first ball and participate in several workshops with people famous in the European ballroom scene. I became consistent with my creative work and opened to new art styles and techniques. I also participated in plenty of different services, having the opportunity to become a language tutor, support several foundations and connect doing good with my love for animals through activities such as hippotherapy or animal rights faculty. Something I definitely have grown to value in a CAS experience was the reflection part. Naturally, participating in all of these interesting activities was the core of the entire experience, however, each time I took the time to sit down and reflect upon the things that I have done, it made me realize how much I overcame and how valuable all of these small accomplishments were. It helped me understand the importance of team-work, self-discipline and planning – when I look back at my CAS journeys, I start to realize how much I learned through all of these experiences.

Walking Yeti
Today I had the pleasure of assisting my good friend on a walk with her dog, Yeti. Yeti is a young, very energetic german shepherd, so the entirety of our walk looked much different than my usual strolls with my older dog. I'm used to a rather slower, calmer pace, so walking such an energetic and enthusiastic dog like Yeti was a quite big change! We chose a longer route, eventually walking a few good kilometers around the local fields. We also stopped for a while to play catch and practice a few tricks and commands, since Yeti is learning all of the basics of obedience. It was a very pleasant afternoon, although I must admit that the fast pace and longer distance made me feel a little tired towards the end!

Today during our Animal Rights Faculty meeting we talked about african wild dogs (otherwise called painted dogs or the Cape hunting dogs). Magda showed us a slideshow during which she explained the issue of the human & wildlife conflict involving the african dogs. We then discussed the issue of habitat fragmentation and what causes this phenomena. The african wild dog is yet another animal that I had almost no knowledge about - I was honestly glad to learn something new and also become aware of the problem of habitat fragmentation.

I enjoy exploring new art styles, techniques and methods, so lately I decided that I would like to experiment with something new. Having a few newspapers to spare, I chose collage. The piece was supposed to be a reflection on consumerism: while looking through the newspapers and magazines, I noticed how much of their content revolved about shopping, new trends and more. I actually like the outcomes of the mini-collages I made, even though I was not that happy with the reflections I chose to supplement them with. This was a rather small and simple project, but I enjoyed the process a lot, so I think I will give collages a few more chances in the future to see if it's something that I would like to pursue long-term. Trying new things may be exhausting, but in the end it always brings me plenty of satisfaction and helps me realize the importance of self-improvement within things that I don't usually feel that comfortable doing.

Hi. Today I took my dog for yet another walk. This time, however, I decided it should be a rather relaxing one - for the past few days, me and Cheddar have been using our walks for simple obedience training. As I mentioned a few times before, Cheddar is an older dog, moreover, he was adopted by us at the age of three; this means that during his life, he's done plenty of learning and there are certain habits that he has adapted that are not that easy to overcome. However, I feel like it is important to recognize progress and to always keep a good balance between "work" and fun. So, for the fun part, we took a long stroll down my neighbourhood, taking a new route and enjoying the snowy weather for a solid two hours. It was also a great chance for me to clear my mind, which is something much needed considering the growing amount of schoolwork and responsibilities - physical activity like walking has always been really relaxing to me, so I found today's walk to be a very pleasant one.

Today during Animal Rights Faculty we spoke about animal shelters, focusing on three aspects: their problems, what can be done to help and how is it important. Personally, this is a very important topic for me. My beloved dog is one that was adopted from an animal shelter. Moreover, I had the occassion to volunteer with plenty of dogs, participating in initiatives such as Adopciaki, Marsz Kundelka, as well as helping out in the Józefów animal shelter. I think talking about the importance of animal shelters is incredibly relevant, similarly to spreading awareness on how many animals inhabit such shelters and need homes. I believe that if somebody has the right knowledge, adopting a pet from an animal shelter is the way to go - we should never guiltrip anyone for choosing specific breeds, because being realisitc about your possibilities as an owner and handler is incredibly important (and so is supporting the right breeders and initiatives), but I think it is always worth speaking out about how adoption is just as good of an option.

It's been a solid while since I've done something creative that didn't have to do with writing, painting or drawing, so this week I decided it's about time to dust off my beloved ukulele. It's been a solid three or four years since I've received my first ukulele as a birthday gift. Learning on my own and never taking any lessons, I never had anyone to push me to practice whenever I felt too lazy or tired to so, which is why I haven't played in a while. After such a long break, the first few strums seemed to be a major struggle, but luckily muscle memory allowed me to get back into "shape" quite quickly. I took some time to revise the songs I learned most recently, as well as the ones I learned at the very beginning of my adventure with the ukulele, one of them being WDBWOTV by Twenty One Pilots.

The snowy weather and the beautiful winter scenery makes me even happier about each walk I take. Having a little more time during a school day, I took my dog for a longer walk - on afternoons, we usually don't do more than just a quick basic stroll, however today I felt like spending a little more time outside. I used this walk to practice some basic commands with my dog, as lately he's been a little stubborn when it came to these, especially when handled by my parents. Surprisingly enough, he had a lot of energy, so not only did we got to walk around for a little longer than I expected, we also got to succesfully practice the things that have been troubling the most - the command 'leg' used without leash, as well as return on command. It was great being out in such a beautiful weather!

Today's Animal Rights Faculty meeting centered around... camels. Unexpectedly. If it wasn't for the efforts of the faculty members, I would have probably never get t know that camels were an endangered species. Adam, who showed us the slideshow, explained the ways in which human activity affects camels and what is the reason for their endangerment. It is always difficult to process that plenty of animals are in danger due to humans not considering their needs, instincts, etc.

While in lockdown one I had plenty of motivation and energy to enjoy new activities and dishes, the past few weeks have been difficult in that sense. Working late, I didn't really find the energy to wake up earlier for the sake of eating breakfast before the lessons started, but lately I decided that it's a habit worth of establishing. This is why I woke up today to treat myself to a nice breakfast. I did plenty of experimenting with oatmeals last year, however I decided to try something new once again. I prepared my oats as usual, except I added a little bit of peanut batter and cinnamon the cooking oats. Then I topped it with peanut butter and two different types of crushed nuts. I really loved the outcome - the oatmeal was creamy, tasty and not too sweet, and really helped me get through the first part of the day. I hope I will be able to continue with preparing nutritious breakfasts so that it becomes a well established habit of mine.

Today's Animal Rights Faculty meeting was about the gray wolf. We spoke about how this species is endangered due to human activity and discussed ways in which each individual can contribute to the protection of wildlife and their closest environment. I think it's important that we speak that caring for our planet and it's inhabitants is a joined responsibilty and I was glad to exchange ideas on how I can personally change my own habits so that I can contribute to small changes that affect endangered species such as the gray wolf.

Hi. Today I decided to try a new recipe. Usually when I bake something sweet, it's cookies, cheescake or the red velvet cake that has been posted on my blog so many times. This time I didn't feel like any of these, so I decided to opt for something that didn't sound too demanding, but still seemed a good option: the blondie cake. I used this recipe:
https://sugarspunrun.com/blondies-recipe/
It was actually very nice trying something different for a change! The cake turned out AMAZING, and by saying that I mean it - my entire family devoured it within a couple of hours and kept asking me when is the next time I'm gonna bake it. So... soon, I'm assuming?
