Howard Roffman (born April 18, 1953) is an American lawyer and marketing executive, best known for his work on the Star Wars franchise as the head of Licensing at Lucasfilm. He is also a photographer, known for a series of books of gay-positive images published by Bruno Gmünder.

Just finished this fantastic, gritty, ultimately uplifting novel. I recommend you read his first one, I.Q., before this. It is worth getting the background story.

Bought this for 99 cents many years ago. A good, quick read - fewer than 150 pages. Look up Gloria Grahame on YouTube - she was an Oscar-winning actress, known for many "NOIRish" roles. Hope to see the Annette Bening film soon. (at Bedford, Nova Scotia)

I often let serendipity lend an assist in selecting a book. This has been on my shelves for 30+ years. I hadn't read any Wentworth, but am enjoying this throwback to 1944(!). The detective is Miss Silver - a kind of Miss Marple, but more urbane. (at Bedford, Nova Scotia)

Just finished my most recent trio of mysteries/suspense novels. In order of enjoyment: IQ, Schoolboy, Deadfall. IQ is a real find. Le Carré is classic Le Carré - eloquent but a tad wordy. Deadfall is a more generic contemporary police/bureaucratic whodunnit. (at Bedford, Nova Scotia)

I have 3 e-books on the go. They are such brisk easy reading. THEIR FINEST is astute about the Brits on the Homefront in WW II, but with so many hilarious scenes. Looking forward to the movie. It should turn up soon on all the pay channels we have. The Churchill book is his adventures in the Boer War. An easy, not pedantic read. Learning much about Empire and colonialism - little of it good for the indiginous peoples. And the John LeCarre memoir is excellent. Lots of little bits of dressing for us fans of his spy novels. So good. I have read about ½ of LeCarre's novels. This is snippets of his life, and how fact meets fiction. (I also have a recent, well-reviewed huge biography about him. It could be a while before I can work myself up for another lengthy history.) (at Ravines Bedford South)

Finished the SHERLOCK mystery, now into the metaphysical. Anne Rice overwrites, but there's always something there. It can be hard to find. But some chapters move at a clip, others drag. Almost 40% through ... I think I will make it. Lestat is her most popular character, and the readers' love for him is what keeps some of us going. Marius, Armand, Louis ... many of our friends from past novels drop in for a drink. (at Ravines Bedford South)
