Can you please stop saying Sesshomaru is actively grooming rin? All he's ever done canonically is protect rin and keep her safe from other demons. 1/2 I know people have said they have their doubts with Sunrise but it should be noted that these are not normal circumstances. This isn't a question of 'your ship over mine' like the Sessr*nners are spinning. This is a matter of RIGHT and WRONG. Most of the Anti-Sessr*n backlash is just sheer disbelief that a group of people would so openly and PROUDLY support something so ETHICALLY, and MORALLY OBSCENE. But let's give credit where credit is due. It's not a matter of explaining to them that -

The biggest problem with Sessr*n is that they don’t treat this ship as a fantasy. They are advocating for it to become canon, to be portrayed on screen as something romantic and pure, with all the real problematic implications contained in it suddenly forgotten.

It is not a fictional corner they use to explore whatever aspect they find appealing in this relationship. They want it to be validated, just like they themselves want to be validated, because, as you can tell from how personally attacked they feel when confronted, they self insert in Rin.

There are different people that ship controversial pairings in this fandom. The first that comes to my mind is what I think is called Inuc*st, which sees Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru sexually involved together. I’ve never seen those shippers actively asking for this pairing to become canon on screen. That is the difference.

I am not so hypocritical to think that I am morally superior and that I’ve never liked something controversial. But it’s all about how these dynamics are portrayed, in what context, and what outcome results out of it. One of my favourite manga has the main characters committing incest uncounsciously. I wouldn’t bore everyone with the plot, but it doesn’t end well for them romantically. It’s heartbreaking.

Sessr*n shippers see this relationship as something morally accepting and romantic, while in reality they unnecessarily pushed for turning a completely platonic dynamic into a sexual one. They fight for it to the point of contradicting themselves. They believe this is the only possible ship for Sesshoumaru and want to convince others of it. They harass users on the internet and, even worse, they tried to ruin the career of real life people for simply finding the pairing unhealthy. It’s as if the validation of this relationship on screen is a personal matter to them, to the point of committing insane actions. This attitude seriously bothers me and makes me wonder what kind of individuals they are in society.

I’ve always been a Sesskagu shipper, but I would never give hate or bother someone that ships Sesshoumaru with Kagome, Kikyou, Sango etc. If Sunrise ever made one of these couples canon in Yashahime I would find it completely absurd. But I would limit myself to write a review about how in my opinion this is terrible writing that goes against the original story and makes Sesshoumaru out of character, at most. I wouldn’t make it a ship war, I wouldn’t put my energies into it to explain that said ship is problematic, I wouldn’t feel uncomfortable, nor would I use a literal tag to go against it. Proof of this is the fact that not only Sesshoumaru shippers, but literally the rest of the fandom that includes Inukag, Inukik, Mirsan etc, is against Sessr*n.

Sorry needing to rant. Sessr*nners need to stop bringing up that crusty ass excuse that because Sango had twins at 16, it's fine for Rin to do the same. 1) Sango was, if you want to be technical, actually 17, borderline 18, when she had the twins. 2) The difference of ages when Miroku met Sango was 2 years. 2 fucking years. Meaning there was no power imbalance. For Rin and Sess, it's OVER 10 years (mentally), and one of them was 8 when they MET each other. Fucking hell this is so dumb.

I don’t know why, but the description of anything being crusty just makes me laugh 💀🤣. You’re absolutely right anon!!! For me, it’s not even the age she got pregnant, although anything younger than 18 is a big ass no. It’s who she’s getting impregnated by. Miroku and Sango are literally within the same physical and mental stage of development. If they were in high school, they’d either be a grade a part or within the same grade. Sesshomaru is a grown ass man. Realistically, when he met Rin, Sesshomaru would be in college while she’s in 3rd grade. At the end of Inuyasha, Rin would be in 5th grade, Sesshomaru still in college. If Rin is 15-16, she’ll be in 8-9th grade, while Sesshomaru would have graduated college, likely gotten himself a job and his own place. If these people can cringe at real life 15 year olds getting knocked up by grown men, and they should, then I don’t see why they can’t comprehend how uncomfortable it is for a lot of people to see that in an anime. Regardless of whether or not it’s fiction. It’s just unsettling. The only reason these shippers are fine with it, is bc sesshomaru is hot. Let him look like Franky from one piece or Jiraiya from Naruto, and they’d whistling a whole new tune.
