Roni Horn, Bird, 1998/2008. Published by Glenstone museum. . I've gotten into a really good routine of photographing books and images in one spot at certain times. I like the uniform look and try to let the artwork be the focal point. But let's be real, for the most part, I am reading these books in bed surrounded by cats... and sometimes you just have to take advantage of the Sunday morning lighting.

I have only uninspired things to say today (en route to tacos to try to get rid of a persistent hangover) but I am really in love with this shot of Not Vital's Pelvis. This is the third exhibition book from the Yorkshire Sculpture park that I've flipped through and I love seeing the sculptures in the "wild" and interacting with the elements.

This Jean Claude and Christo book was so giant that the librarian at work thought I might need a cart 💪 this book chronicles the Surrounded Island project completed in 1983 (there's even a page with real fabric from the project).

“As an artist you compete with reality, and the order of reality is always more interesting than the order you can make. But, because you make the order, it becomes information.” -Urs Fischer

Jennifer Bartlett is an artist who paved the way in the 1970s for younger, especially female, artists interested in monumental installation. She became known for her signature grid works: fabricated steel plates coated with white enamel and a silkscreened grid. As opposed to other artists at the time who used the grid to model mathematical ideals and consistency, she would playfully arrange colors and forms and shapes. . From Jennifer Bartlett: Point, Line, Square, getting Somewhere, on view February 21 through March 31 at Locks Gallery. . . . #artbooks #arthistorian #arthistory #bookstagram #booklover #igreads #instabooks #modernart #contemporaryart #exhibitioncatalogue #artexhibition #arte #bibliophile #artlover #art #painting #jenniferbartlett #5womenartists #womenartists #femaleartists

😍❤ these colors. I love the juxtaposition of Kapoor's proposal for the Princess Diana memorial (left) against the vivid reds and blues of his other piece. . (Reading about the decision not to use Kapoor's proposal for the memorial has actually been interesting, I recommend googling those press clips) . . . #artbooks #arthistorian #arthistory #bookstagram #booklover #igreads #instabooks #modernart #contemporaryart #exhibitioncatalogue #artexhibition #arte #bibliophile #artlover #art #painting #sculpture #installationart #anishkapoor

Things I learned while researching this image: Merrill Wagner would paint on a surface using different mediums (oil, acrylic, watercolor) and watch how each changed according to weather, heat, time, etc. I'm so drawn to her outdoor works like this. . . . #artbooks #arthistorian #arthistory #bookstagram #booklover #igreads #instabooks #modernart #contemporaryart #exhibitioncatalogue #artexhibition #arte #bibliophile #artlover #art #painting #merrillwagner #5womenartists #womenartists #femaleartists
