Sara Bareilles - I Choose You (live at the Manderley Bar - which looks like a very cool venue!)
Little Voice聽(Bareilles' 2007 debut album) was one of my 16-year-old self's favourite anthems - I used play it as I got ready for my waitressing shift on Wednesday evenings, and once flooded the bathroom when a track came on the radio and I forgot that I was filling the sink. Oops.
Her latest release,聽Brave,聽is funky (big yay for Sara's funky trousers in the video!) and got me revisiting her music - and I found this acoustic version of聽I Choose You. It's聽gorgeous and delightfully plucky!

trains and acoustical Guinness
i've been spending lots of time on trains recently (for actual reasons - not just to chill, which i did threaten to do this year in order to get my course reading done) and it's one of my favourite things to sit with pretty music and pretty views and oggle out of the window, stop after stop. i could do it for hours!
this will be happening quite a bit over the next month or so, which is how i'm going to justify buying more music - starting with some Kodaline. but listen! it's an acoustic version聽of聽Love Like This.聽you can almost taste the Dublininess. to see these guys in a Dublin pub with a pint ahhhhhhhhhh

one American Beauty and one Dead Man away from freedom
aka聽a 2000 word film essay!
it's interesting stuff. Dead Man聽has a soundtrack of Neil Young strumming away atmospherically at an electric guitar - plucky stuff.
so it's an interesting end to my second year! plus, come deadline-monday, i have a tuesday and wednesday of gigs to fill the little spot in my heart that's been a bit dejected of late :D i ended up missing 2 gigs this semester because of uni stuff -聽Stu Larsen聽at the Brook and聽Daughter聽at the Old Fire Station in Bournemouth - sad times :( but next week i get to see聽the lovely Lucy Rose聽at the Brook and then my amigo聽Rich Mandell聽supporting Beans on Toast at the Joiners, so that'll be fabulous!
non-live-wise,聽i've been Spotfying聽Milo Greene聽like crazy (awesome self-titled album) and today, it's聽Fossil Collective! yay musical happy-high
