relatively late at night, Alistair was still not asleep.

he found himself enarmored with a new book he had come across in the library and was determined to read every last page of it before even thinking of getting any rest.

that ambitious endeavor landed him in the position he was in now. nestled in bed, warm and cozy, yet exhausted beyond belief.

just when he considered to take a break, he could hear the floorboards behind the door creak.

the brit sighed and without even looking up from his book, as the door slowly squeaked open, he said "I will sleep when I feel like it." in a rather casual yet still somewhat irritated tone. "you worry way too much about me, Peppy."

this encounter between the two older men occured quite regularly, due to Alistair's mildly concerning reading habits.

sure, losing yourself in a good book is great, but sleeping should be a little higher up on the man's list of priorities.

awaiting the usual snarky response from the chef, Alistair was already planning on finishing the page once the door closed again.

...

...but it didn't.

confused, Alistair closed the book after all.

"oh..it's you" he said, smiling a little as he saw that it wasn't Peppino who checked up on him, but rather his unshapely clone.

"I thought you went to bed hours ago" he said. "is something wrong, Pino?"

the goopy man didn't say anything for a second or two, one of his eyes sinking back into it's socket, while the other looked away from the brit.

"I t'nod kniht uoy dluohs eb pu siht etal.." he said, his echoey voice a bit quieter than usual.

"not you too.." Alistair groaned, rubbing his eyes, which he didn't even realize were sore until this point. "listen, it is very sweet of you two to check on me like this, but I am a grown man. if I want to spend a few extra hours reading then that is my decision."

at that, fake Peppino shambled over to the other, his eye finally rolling back to the front as he gave Alistair a concerned, yet irritated look.

"uoy deen ot peels!" he said.

and before Alistair could even think of a rebuttal, the clone lifted the blanket the brit was snuggled in and began to slither into bed.

"what are y-" Alistair's confused question got cut off as pino's long, snake-like arms wrapped around his body, pinning his arms to his sides, making it impossible for him to read.

..or move, for that matter.

"gnh?! Pino! let me go!!" he complained, but the doughy man simply chuckled, wearing a wide, content smile on his face.

"thgindoog riatsila~"

"Pino!!"
