How to Watch BBC IPlayer in the Americas and Abroad on IPhone or IPad or Mac
It's not as easy as logging in and pressing play to access BBC iPlayer. This is a frustrating issue but there's a workaround and it's quite easy. In this article, we will show how to access BBC iPlayer from anywhere in the world.
iPlayer is among the largest streaming services in the UK, offering a range of high-quality television , both live and on demand. It is available on popular channels like BBC One and CBeebies as well as radio shows and feature films, straight from the BBC, entirely free from advertising.
The sad thing is that it's limited to UK viewers and (in principle) you can only watch it from within the UK. The BBC is funded by licensing fees paid to the UK TV owners. Therefore, it makes sense to restrict BBC iPlayer viewing to UK viewers.
What about holidaymakers and those who reside in two different countries? Wow and private wow servers If you've paid for it, you might be able to access BBC iPlayer while abroad in countries like the United States, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
Popular shows like Eastenders, Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice and more are available live or on demand on BBC iPlayer, and many will be disappointed to miss an episode or two while away from the UK.
You need a TV license to watch on-demand content on the iPlayer. Previously, you only needed a license to stream TV live, but now the rule change means all iPlayer content requires you to pay up. Our sister title Tech Advisor explains all here What do I need to know about an TV license?

Similar to how Netflix dominates US traffic, BBC iPlayer dominates in the UK, with up to six percent of internet traffic going to the BBC. It's a popular choice. But, you're not able to watch the BBC from abroad.
It examines your IP address public (Internet Protocol) when you open the BBC iPlayer App on your iOS device, or sign into iPlayer from your Mac or PC. This address is a 4-part number, like 91.108.140.168. (A quick way to find yours is to type "IP Address" into Google.)
This number is a reference to your ISP (Internet Service Provider) or cellular connection, that is linked to the server sending you data. Enter the numbers into IP Location to determine the location of the server and the host. BBC iPlayer won't show you content if this location isn't located in the UK.
You must convince BBC iPlayer that you are using an IP address outside the UK in order to use BBC iPlayer overseas.
Don't worry. Thanks to VPNs (or virtual personal networks), this is much simpler than you think. Instead of connecting directly to the servers of iPlayer, you log into the VPN and it connects with the British IP address, allowing you access all iPlayer content that you normally access.
This violates the terms and conditions for BBC iPlayer. You must use the service at your own risk.
