My first one shot weeeee

so there was this one idea of what if poli wasn't able to save a kid on time...I am having sensory overload on creativity rn, anyways enjoy!!!

'Things happen'

It was a working day for everyone in Broomstown, not only for the rescuers but for the citizens as well. Mails had to be sent, paper work needed to be filled and places needed to be reached. The rescue team however didn't find any of that stressful...until an emergency call was made,

"This is the rescue team, Jin speaking!"

on the other side was Johnny's mother who seemed to be really scared

"Jin! It's Ms. Miller, my son and husband...the car is stuck over a bridge, I got out but they're still stuck in there, PLEASE YOU HAVE TO HURRY!!! IT'S ABOUT TO FALL!!!"

"Alright Ms. Miller! I am sending the rescue team"

"Emergency, Emergency! There's a car hanging off the side of Elm's bridge at East Water, hurry up before it falls into the water!"

The rescue team heard the call and didn't know what to make out of it, but they drove at their top speed to reach at that bridge.

The rescue team has reached to bridge, to see a black SUV hanging on for dear life as the husband and child remain unconscious in their seats. Poli darts his eyes to Amber and Roy.

"Alright, Amber and Roy, shoot your lines and keep the car at balance, Helly you will go to the front and hold on to the car there so it doesn't fall over. I will go to the front with a secured line and get the dad out first."

Amber and Roy shoot their lines to secure the car and Helly flies to the front to stop the car from tipping over, Poli shoots a line to a hook on the top of the bridge and he slowly moved back. Poli reaches the front and tries to open the door, but he isn't able to, he sees the metal fencing is pierced through the door just missing the dad by an inch. Poli brings out his laser cutter and starts cutting carefully, after he cut through he starts taking out the metal beam and opens the door to see the dad bleeding from the head and having a very serious arm fracture, he tilted his head to the side to see Johnny who had similar wounds and fractures, Poli looks back at the dad and carefully takes him out.

Meanwhile Amber notices something off about her cable and suddenly...SNAP! Her cable broke and Roy's cable got detached as well and the car started tilting over, Helly with all his strength tried to stop the car from tipping any further, Poli quickly takes out the dad, but Helly couldn't hold it much longer and eventually, he let go.

The car plummets down into the water with Johnny still inside, Poli watches in horror, and immediately jumps down. He swims as fast as he could before the car could fully sink, he opens the door and swims with Johnny in his arm. He pulls himself up with the line and gets on solid ground, Amber put the dad on the stretcher as Poli started CPR on Johnny.

"C'mon Johnny you gotta wakeup, you have to wake up!", tears streamed down his face as continued with the procedure, Amber kept checking for a pulse but there was nothing. Soon enough another stretcher was brought in but Poli just couldn't stop doing chest compressions. Pressure was on him because the mother was seeing all of this.

"Poli-", Amber said softly, "I am sorry Poli, he's gone, we are taking him to the hospital"

"NO, NO HE ISN'T GONE, NO HE ISN'T!", Poli's tears falling down on Johnny's lifeless body, "He-he i-isn't gone".

Everyone was at the hospital, waiting for the news on Johnny and his dad, the doctor walked and everyone game him a worried look.

"The father is alive, his trauma injury may cause some brain damage and loss in memory, his arm fracture was too severe so we had to perform surgery on him, he is currently on IV fluids as well. The boy however...I-I am so, so sorry but...we just weren't able to bring him back"

The team is in shock, the mother cries her heart out and Poli just stood there in pure terror, he has never lost a child like this, he has never failed in saving a kid or protecting them. He couldn't bear the news, he ran out of the hospital and cried and kept on crying.

(back at HQ)

Poli refused to leave his room, the members tried convincing him that it wasn't his fault but he just wouldn't come out.

"I should've gotten Johnny out first THEN HE WOULDN'T BE DEAD!", Poli just yelled at them with sorrow in every word, the team just couldn't help him out. Roy forcefully opens the door to his room, and starts to speak up.

"Poli this isn't your fault! No one would've known our cables would just snap! Just...please, this isn't your fault ok? I am sorry but stuff like this happens all the time, you can't save everyone! I know you try so hard everyday to keep people safe but I am here to tell you that you can't save everyone, and don't be scared of that..."

Poli looked at Roy with tired and glistening eyes, and reaches out for a hug and cried even more, Johnny was like a son to Poli...Johnny would always wave back at him when leaving or going to school, Johnny would come over to Hq to study the basics of being a rescuer, it was his dream of joining the team, he always looked up to Poli. But he never got to live his dream...

Things happen for a reason, not every man deserves to walk on this earth, and Poli had to learn that the hard way.

Heya! I have several AUs about your team and your world!

The only problem is...there are at least half a dozen scenarios with body counts (as in...a lot of dead people)...and at least a few where you were dead.

Don't worry! Said deaths are temporary! It's the post-revival that is more terrifying, either due to the results itself or the circumstances that required such revival.

Otherwise, pls don't hate me for that fact! The multiverse is infinite and there are definitely worlds where it's just funky fun, and worlds where you and either Roy, Amber...or both...are dating or are meant to date, including said worlds where you died.
