Maasin City! Considered as the commercial and religious center of Southern Leyte and the south-western part of Leyte Island and also the Pilgrimage hub of the entire region 8.
Founded as the Maasin Settlement in 1700 by Jesuits then became a town in 1755 as part of Leyte province. When Southern Leyte became a province in 1959, the town of Maasin was made the provincial capital and then elevated to city status on August 10, 2000.

Miss Universe 2017 - An Aftermath by #ram08
After a week of nostalgia in the recently concluded Miss Universe 2017, I so happen to be very happy and overwhelmed of the result. As everyone is predicting, even myself, that Miss South Africa - Demi Leigh Nel-Peters - crowned as the 66th Miss Universe.
After watching the show, which actually what I have been looking forward to, I found it very interesting as new format of selecting the top 16 based from the groupings according to regions, namely: the Americas, Europe and Africa & Asia Pacific, and the 4 wildcard from anywhere of the regions.
And the top 16 were:
Africa & Asia Pacific - Thailand - Sri Lanka - Ghana - South Africa
Americas - Colombia - USA - Canada - Brazil
Europe - Spain - Great Britain - Croatia - Ireland
Wildcard - Philippines - Venezuela - Jamaica - China
Then, they battle head to head for a very dazzling swimsuit competition where each of the top 16 walk the runway individually which I like compared to last year’s by 3′s or 2′s in the competition.
Then move to the next cut which is the top 10:
(in order based on the actual show) ... Venezuela - USA - Philippines - Canada - South Africa - Spain - Brazil - Colombia - Thailand - Jamaica
Then next was the whooping classy gown competition...
Then the next cut was the top 5...
with, South Africa - Venezuela - Thailand - Jamaica - Colombia
Then each of them were ask separate questions that involves socio and even cultural questions that would lead to their advocacies or what they believe in. After the hard pounding question, they now trim down into 3 with...
JAMAICA - COLOMBIA - SOUTH AFRICA
Then the final question is ... What quality in yourself are you most proud of, and how will you apply that quality to your time as Miss Universe?"
Miss South Africa - Demi Leigh Nel-Peters answered : "As Miss Universe, [you] have to be confident in who you are as an individual. A Miss Universe is a woman [who] has overcome many fears, and, by that, she is able to help other women overcome their fears. She is a woman that nothing is ever too much too ask for, and I think that is exactly who I am."
Miss Colombia, Laura Gonzales has her say: "I am incredibly compassionate about everything I do. I have discipline. With compassion, I put my whole self in every situation that I work [on]. I've done this as an actress, I've done this as [Miss] Colombia, and I do not doubt that I would do this as Miss Universe."
And Davina Bennett, Miss Jamaica answered: "The quality I am most appreciative of is my drive, my determination. I am the founder of a foundation that spreads awareness for the deaf community, and this platform is such a great platform to just let [people] know that these persons need opportunities and equal opportunities like those in society. And so the Miss Universe competition will be the platform for me to use this foundation to spread awareness for all the deaf people around."
At the end of the show Miss Jamaica is the 2nd runner up while Colombia ended as the 1st runner up and Miss South Africa wins the Miss Universe 2017
My take on the show is that is brings new flavor and surprise for pageant enthusiast regarding the top 16 groupings by region which is something new in the past 2 decades. I like the whole 3 hour show as the pacing of the segment per segment is on point as it is very live, so everything can possibly happen. One thing only that surprises me is the Mikimoto crown that was crowned to the new winner. Where’s the DIC crown? I heard there are some controversies regarding the copyrights and contracts between DIC and IMG, but rest assured I loved the crown that something very elegant and very promising to the new Miss Universe. Over all the show was great, the result were good, but I didn’t expect Miss Jamaica in the 3rd place but she perform well though. As a pageant enthusiast for so many years, I would say very overflowed with good show and surprises really the Miss Universe is. That it. Thanks for reading (if you are)... #ram08

Britney: An Inspiration
Wherever I may go most people really remind me as Britney Spears…(Ahh so gay!) But it really makes me shiver every time I hear them saying that I’m Britney Spears. (?)…
Well, yes. I am a “HUGE” Britney Spears fan. It’s not because she’s famous and beautiful but the thing is she really inspires me a lot that even when I shared something I really have to talk about her. I think everybody hears about what Britney done for the past 13 years, most of which are the controversies she made being who she is. And most people that heard it judge her of being a negative person and a bad example to her fans… But NO, they may have heard about these stories, but they never did once felt what she felt in her heart. And I feel it.
It all started when I was in 2nd year High School and pop culture invades the music scene that includes boybands and other pop groups… Then came this Britney girl in a school uniform singing “…hit me Baby one more time…”, and I said “who’s this girl ?”. Coz during those time I’m into Divas (Celine and Mariah)… Then summer came and “Sometimes” song came and I liked it. And not when I saw the fresh video of “(You Drive Me) Crazy” on MTV, dancing in her sexy green sleeveless top and I was like “I find her sooo Hot!”… and the rest is history.
From that on, I started to collect her albums (cassette tapes during those times). From “…Baby One More Time”, to “Oops! I Did It Again!”, to “Britney” , to “In The Zone”, to “Blackout”, then “Circus” and now “Femme Fatale”…up to the Greatest Hits album of her…
And why Britney Spears is an inspiration?
Simple. Because despite of all the stories, controversies and even scandals, Britney manages to become Britney from what she is before. People would say bad about her upon stating or hearing her name, but they didn’t see the real Britney behind. And that’s so sad… For an artist to stay for a decade or more and still manages to reached charts is something, and only few are those of them, and that includes my Britney Spears.
We should be aware that we are only humans, that we can make mistakes and from that mistakes we can learn from it by doing the right thing and not to do it again. As per Britney, she even is a star where all the cameras are all around and can’t even do the normal person would do in everyday living manages to become a good person and be what she is now, how much more us that can make the things we wanted to become happy… Bottomline. Be open-minded and don’t hesitate to do things that will measure your ability to become who you are…Forget about what others would say because they don’t know what actually is in our minds..Just like my Britney, I’m happy for her on what she is today despite of all the negatives before because I know she learns from it. And that’s my girl…Go Girl! Go Britney!

Book Review: “Kapitan Sino” by Bob Ong
I’m a Bob Ong some kinda follower, reads some of his works like “abnkkbsnplako” and “stainless longganisa”. A friend and classmate of mine lended me some of her Bob Ong books, so that made me introduce to the author. Most of his works are more of funny phrases or green jokes and even political jokes, which some kinda true and happening, that I even think if it is really true or just his opinion. It’s more of a 70’s or 80’s kind of sit-up that mostly my parents can relate to the situation being describe in the book. But overall, most of his books are entertaining.
One of which is “Kapitan Sino”, which I also happen to have a copy through Lazada because of their promo bundle and catches my intention to have it purchased (Kapitan Sino bundle is with Ang mga Kaibigan ni Mama Susan, still a Bob Ong work). Now, on with the review. The story is more of a typical superhero who’s have a superb power living in a local community. Very typical because the story are most likely being played in movies and television just entertain kids about having a superpower and it’s great responsibility (Spiderman? hehe). But what I noticed and learned about it is that yeah “Great power comes with great responsibility”. And that’s it. Cute nuh? nag review pa ako wala pa ako napala sa libro… hehehe
I’m just kidding. Seriously, the story open my mind on the things around us. Very true indeed the situation in the story happens in real society like what we are now. The politics, the kapitbahay, the people who rule the government, all are very exact to what is happening. But what I learned most is that it is really not easy to have power. Power to help for example. When you help sometimes you are to be blame for the things not favorable to other who is concerned. And when you stop helping and they needed you? they all suck what inside of you… sad but true. Very unfair world. But the thing is, it all happen because of the people itself. They do things for themselves not even knowing the consequences that may result to others. Ahhhh life. That’s what it is.
It also reminds me of my professor telling about “values split”. We have all this trait, specially “daw” pinoy. Values split means we always think the good one’s but never ever tried to do it. Or worst do the bad thing but pretending that he/she is doing the right one… Sad but very true. I even is guilty on this, but on some little things (I hope). hehe

It’s more fun in Leyte, Philippines
Leyte. Located west of Samar Island South of Biliran and West across the Camotes is Cebu Province.
I have been a resident of Hindang, a munipality in the 5th district South of Leyte, for more than 20 years (I’m 27), ‘cause the rest of the years sere spent in Metro Manila for my studies. And with my being a Leyteño, I consider it as the best place to grow-up with lots of everything in terms of culture, beliefs, food, places to go, adventure and most of all FUN.
Let me bring to some of the beautiful places and things I consider a Leyte wonder that Leyte has to offer, so you can experience and discover that could make you say that it’s really more fun in the Philippines.
-PLACES TO GO-
Let me take you first to one of the historical places Leyte is very proud of, The McArthur Park (Leyte Landing Memorial). If you are fun of discovering places with historical background that really made history for the country and the story behind, better visit the Park. It is located in Palo, a municipality next to Tacloban City (the capital City). There is no taxi around Tacloban so you can reach the place by tricycle or by jeepney.
Cuatro Islas - Four lovely isles namely, Digyo, Apid, Mahaba and Himokilan bordered by white sandy shore; surrounded by beautiful coral gardens, located in two of Leyte’s south part town Hindang(where I grow-up and raised) and Inopacan. A total of 287 species of reef building corals can be found in the islands waters; rich fishing ground. Himokilan is the only island that belongs to Hindang. It is a baranggay that has approximately around 200 people live and many of those are my relatives since my grandmother is a resident of that island.
- Mt. Pangasugan Ecopark-
Located in the Brgy. Pangasugan in Baybay, Leyte (of course). One of the few remaining virgin rainforests in the Philippines. It is richly endowed with diverse flora and fauna, many of which are considered endangered species like flying lemurs and tarsiers; a unique and precious ecological asset. I remember it as the most beautiful mountain scenery in the morning while I study at the Leyte State University (now Visayas State University), a school that is located below the ecopark.
- Agas Agas Bridge and Zipline (Southern Leyte)-
The bridge, is considered to be the tallest bridge in the country at a height of 75m and was constructed by the government as a link between Luzon and Mindanao through Liloan Ferry. Built amidst the panoramic natural beauty of the mountains and rivers surrounding the area, a Zipline was created also to get attraction amongst the tourist who will surely passes by the bridge when traveling along the road either from those of Luzon or Mindanao and even those from Leyte itself.

Imagine, the lenght is almost 1 Kilometer, the longest so far in the country, the height of almost equivalent to 30 storey building.
- Canigao Island-
Canigao Island is an island located in Matalom, Leyte (south part). you can reach the island by boat for about a 10 minute minute ride if you are riding the Fire ball boat. With a fee of 50 pesos per head back and forth fee from morning service until sunset. But if you want to stay overnight, the boat will fetch you the following morning. Cottages are available at rates between 150-500 pesos depending on the size and the location. Stalls for food and drinks are also available but for your convenience and satisfaction, bringing of food stuff is advisable for a good experience. there is also an entrance fee that will serve as a maintenance for the preservation and cleanliness of the resort.
So, that is it for now. Next would be the delicacies and other tasting food Leyte has to offer. Delicacies that will make you not to forget Leyte as tourist destination and a place to find adventure. And not to mention the people, of course, as they are the face of Leyte. Just like me, a proud Leyteño, I would say that this gonna be place to feel the adventure and fun. Dahil naniniwala po ako sa kasabihang “Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan"
So, tara na! Discover Leyte, Discover Philippines. And be amazed that It’s really more fun in the Philippines…

Britney Live in Manila…
June 15, 2017 - The date when I have the best day of my life, aside from the day I was born,when stars bring down a b*tch in my universe.
I’m a huge fan, stalker, motivatee(?) and a follower. Back in a days when I was just dreaming of seeing her in person, performing live, and imagine this and that. One morning, when I woke up and check my phone I saw this random post from a fan page that my b*tch is making a headline in Manila. I didn’t believe it since most fans are too overwhelmed by posting and making fan art of her. But when her official page posted it, I was like...waaaaaaahhhhhhh, then my nerves started to shaken and think of any possible resources I could find to attend to this once in a lifetime opportunity. This is actually the number 1 in my bucketlist and this could just pass. So I asked my friend to get tickets for me and whoala!: booked! then my tickets and it all happened. Sharing you my experience next time!
