As Walt Disney began to fear that he was running out of time, others around the company began to fear what they felt would be the inevitable fight over EPCOT. While Roy Disney was enthusiastic about building another profitable theme park, he was firmly against EPCOT as his brother planned it. To Walt, the theme park was just a way to attract guests to see EPCOT, thus he was putting little effort into planning the theme park itself. Meanwhile, Roy was just going along with EPCOT to get the theme park launched and hoped to eventually convince his brother that EPCOT would be a colossal mistake.
While Walt Disney was always the public face and name behind the company, his brother Roy had just as much a financial stake in the company as he did.
