Like many, I've been processing the 75 minutes police waited outside of the Uvalde Mass shooting and reports of tackling parents who wanted to intervene to save children's lives. This article discussing the ruling from the Parkland Massacre may provide insight. “Police officers, in fact, generally are not under any legal obligation to protect citizens who are not in their custody.”
