Kingdom series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
The best drama or series revolving around zombies you will ever see. Whoever enjoys dramas with a strong dose of suspense and horror should not miss this one. The time spent watching this series will not be wasted.
The plot goes like this: a crown prince sets out to investigate rumors of a plague plaguing his realm, only to discover that it is resurrecting the dead (zombies, if you will). Along with his friends, he then endeavors to end the pandemic. The visual style of the film is indescribable. Nothing about this feels staged or fabricated. The zombies are utterly convincing. Everything about them, from their bites to their sprints, is clear. They come out to play at night but sleep the day away in secret.
Tumblr media
Corruption is exposed (the political drama aspect is also present). Corrupt bureaucrat Lord Jo Hak Joo plans to seize power and become king. He intends to name his daughter's (the queen's) unborn child as heir. In contrast, the reality is just the opposite. When rescuing lives, you see the true colors of individuals. Instead of helping the locals, they only care about themselves. Judge Jo Bum Pal is the worst of the lot. You'll find him repulsive.
The twist of the season 2 story reveals the thoughts of the queen. But that's not all the drama has in store; there are other surprising turns as well. You should not worry; nothing will be disclosed at this time. The audience is given a glimpse into the crown prince's character, his love for and obligation to the kingdom's subjects. In an effort to save multiple communities from the undead, he and his subordinates take on this task. He has some great ideas and approaches to use in dealing with them.

Big Mouth series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
In Big Mouth, we meet Park Changho, a lawyer with a dismal 10% success rate. The nickname "Big Mouth" refers to his tendency to boast. He has no idea that his life is about to change when the mayor of Gucheon, Choi Doha, asks him to take on a case involving the hospital administration and medical staff. It's a perilous trip full of betrayals and murders.
Tumblr media
This is a journey fraught with peril, betrayal, and murder. The opening sequences of the popular K-dramas "Big Mouth" and "Adamas" both take place in the middle of the night and during a rainstorm. The premise of both shows is based on the classic tale of David and Goliath, and both tell the story of a seemingly ineffectual lawyer who turns deadly when he feels cornered. The action drama starts with the identification of the criminal threat known as Big Mouse in Gucheon. An accident changes the course of Park Changho's life as he works as defense counsel in the murder case involving the Gucheon hospital.
Big Mouth is typical of the creative ways in which K-dramas tackle even mundane topics. The intriguing plot and characters' gradual development in the first episode hooks viewers. The show is still a commercial drama with the intention of providing clean viewing. Lee Jong Suk does a good job portraying a lawyer, but his performance isn't particularly memorable. The plot is interesting, and it manages to keep viewers interested, but no one character really stands out.

Money Heist: Korea series review: Watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
The series' best feature, similar to the Spanish original, is its depth. The complex robbery serves as the set piece, and the story develops in an original way as the personalities and social hierarchies are revealed. The series focuses on the significance of witnessing North Korea's torture and South Korea's indifference towards it after reunification. Money and personal emotion drive make run-ins with corrupt law enforcement and politicians more likely.
However, Money Heist Korea Part 2 is not all heart and soul. The series improves with its newfound ferocity, as evidenced by gun battles and infiltrations in locations other than the Mint. The addition of numerous action sequences makes the spectator aware that the stakes are higher than when they last saw the band of would-be robbers. Episode 9 features excellent action choreography and cinematography, including the use of a shakey cam during an incursion. The show moves the camera around during combat sequences to get all that is going on in the room, ensuring that the audience is aware of the action.
The second half of Money Heist Korea has a thrilling conclusion full of twists and turns, making it one of the best shows of the year, regardless of Netflix's rating.

My Name series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
My Name is a fantastic twist on the action/thriller genre, featuring mobsters, a revenge-seeking woman, and the hunt for the mole. Han So Hee does an amazing job in her role, and the action scenes are done brilliantly.
The flexibility of Han So Hee is evident to everyone who has seen her in World of the Married or Nevertheless. She does a fantastic job here, and her performance in this action part is very unique for her. It's rare to find an actress who can pull off heavy drama, romance, and action so convincingly. The action scenes are stunningly spectacular, regardless of any tricks used with the stunts or the camera. She should be recognized for her hard work.
My Name may be shorter than other K-dramas at 8 episodes, but don't let that fool you; it's packed with incredible scenes and an excellent soundtrack. Everything felt like it was meant to be there, like everything was meant to be a part of the scenario.
The premise, the attractive OST, the superb acting, especially the performance by Han So Hee, the amazingly shot passages, the more than decent fight and action sequences, and the overall violent atmospheric setting all contributed to the success of this Netflix original.

All of Us Are Dead series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
The South Korean zombie series All of Us Are Dead follows a group of high school students in Hyosan as they try to make it through the city after it has been overrun by zombies. In the show, a rat is used in scientific studies, and the resulting virus quickly spreads across the student body and the city. The students had heard about zombies, and one of them even brought up the film Train to Busan. As shown in both "Dawn of the Dead" and "The Walking Dead," the show is at its best when it explores the interactions among its huge group of people. The show's main relationship is the friendship between Cheong-san and On-ra, two long-time characters who stick together and help get through the epidemic.
Tumblr media
The grownups also play a part, with Cheong-San's mother attempting to rescue her son and the military debating whether or not to use extreme measures to contain the epidemic. The show's premise is that bringing pupils from diverse social groups together would help them overcome their differences and become stronger as a whole. All students have distinct personalities, and some have formed intriguing relationships, such as the one between previously bullied Su-hyeok and current class president Nam-ra. The loss of these connections is heightened by the events of All of Us Are Dead as the virus spreads.
Tumblr media
A new take on the zombie genre, All of Us Are Dead, examines how the global epidemic has changed people's capacity for cruelty and their determination to live. To rescue their loved ones, some people keep their humanity intact even while bullies like Gwi-nam die several times. The program focuses on the decisions people have to make amid stressful situations like the epidemic, and those decisions aren't easy. All of Us Are Dead does a better job than many other series at dealing with the emotional weight of survivor's guilt by having us feel for protagonists who have taken decisions that aren't universally admired. Fans of the zombie genre will definitely appreciate this series, even if it doesn't quite live up to the standards set by Squid Game.

Happiness series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
I loved Happiness from the get-go because of its unexpected and thrilling development. I originally thought it to be a love story, but as it turned out, it was like a lengthier version of Train to Busan with all the breakouts and infections in the Le Ciel apartment complex.
Sae Bom and Yi Hyun had great chemistry together, and I thought they complimented each other very nicely. When faced with challenges, such as the diseased or the privileged, self-centered inhabitants of the posh complex, one was quick to act and hotheaded, while the other was calm and collected.
Tumblr media
Yi Hyun, Park Hyun Sik's character in his return to the small screen after military service, was endearing and fierce. He was endearing, constantly tried to do the right thing, and always defended Sae Bom residents. He engaged armed military personnel and risked their lives for money, demonstrating his commitment to protecting residents with intellectual disabilities.
Sae Bom, a wild and provocation-prone lady, was entertaining to see how she responded when her husband needed assistance. Their encounters with the people, as well as their deep ties, made their job simpler. The connection between the pair was on display in the final two shows, when they acknowledged their affections for one other. Although the love tale was postponed, the emotional scenes were nonetheless memorable. The pandemic was used to create the tone and make the infection more powerful for viewers.
Joo Hyung and Yeon Ok played wickedness, corruption, and manipulation, respectively, in a well-rounded ensemble. The personalities were varied, including selfish, apathetic, and innocent individuals with varying survival objectives. Overall, the drama was engrossing and upsetting to witness.
In his film Happiness, Lee Joon Hyuk explores the challenges Sae Bom, Yi Hyun, and Jang Gyuk face when saving monsters from themselves. The supporting characters, especially Na Soo Min, are well-portrayed and stand up for their acts. Han Tae Seok, a callous government officer, is outstanding for his compassion and severe judgments that endanger the central characters' lives. The pace is appropriate for 12 episodes, and although there are still loose ends in the last episode, the finale is worth the stress. The soundtrack isn't very memorable.
Tumblr media
One of the best dramas of 2021 is Happiness, which explores the question of who the real monsters are when tragedy confronts mankind. The series includes many creatures, not simply ones with neck-biting skills.

Sweet Home series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
The story is compelling enough to make you want to know how it ends. There are some attempts to develop the characters in order to explain their motivations.
Adapted from the same-named web-comic, Sweet Home is an action-packed struggle for survival as humanity approaches extinction. A group of eccentric apartment complex occupants are compelled to work together when people begin transforming into creatures outside. Naturally, cabin fever, anxiety, and paranoia consume our characters. This is exacerbated by the fact that a few individuals are falling prey to the infection they are attempting to eradicate.
When the creatures do make an appearance, Sweet Home delivers four consecutive episodes of frenetic action. We don't actually pause and learn more about the characters we've been following until the middle of the show. This is a metaphorical long inhalation preceding a climactic season finale that leaves the door wide open for a second season.
Several key characters are at the center of this conflict, along with a strange collection of supporting characters who are along for the chaotic, bloody journey. Reclusive and despondent The primary character is Hyun-Soo, but he is accompanied by the mysterious Sang-Wook, the musician Ji-Su, the firefighter Ji-Kyung, and the religious Korean language instructor Jae-Hun.
Tumblr media
However, there are a great deal more characters here, and this large cast is one of the show's major flaws. Given the number of characters vying for screen time, Sweet Home has little time to distribute character development and growth evenly and must slow down in the middle to flesh out the characters further.
In a sense, this allows you to recover your breath after the relentless action, but it also feels like it should have occurred much earlier so that you could have understood who these characters are and what they're fighting for.
In fact, the show's slightly erratic pacing is one of my greatest complaints. Considering the limited number of characters to work with, Something Kingdom and Love Alarm can get away with short running periods. However, the cast here is nearly as large as one of the larger Korean drama productions, and given that those are typically 75 minutes each, the shortened running time is certainly noticeable.
Sweet Home makes up for its lack of complex characters with graphic violence and gore. This is not a display for the faint of heart, as blood literally spurts from orifices and covers features and walls. Additionally, some of these moments feature extremely close-up shots. If you are prepared for some extremely brutal violence, you should have no problems with this one.
Sweet Home may not be the next big thing like Kingdom, but it is a perfectly original slice of monster horror. If you're prepared for a dramatic finale, Sweet Home is a promising and gratifying horror anthology if you watch all ten episodes. It's not without its flaws, but this is another excellent horror that hopefully will produce bloody tendrils and be renewed for a second season!

Black Knight series review: watch it or skip it?
Tumblr media
What if, in the future, you purchase air for your daily requirements as well as for medicinal and recreational purposes? I just finished the new Korean series Black Knight on Netflix, and here is my spoiler-free review. I have not read the original webtoon on which this series is based, so my evaluation will be based only on what I have seen of the show. This series shows a possible future in which climate change has worsened air pollution to the point that people must purchase oxygen to stay alive.
When the action and personal stakes in Black Knight go up, the film excels. There are exciting gunfights as well as a thrilling and dangerous race that plays out like George Miller is playing Blur. A fantastic group of characters populates the program as well. The friendship between Sa-Wol and his desert friends is sweet and adorable, despite Sa-Wol's silly yet sincere and dogged nature. A good guy defeating impossible odds while also delivering oxygen to the elderly is a lot of fun to watch, while Ryu Seok is a dick, the kind of classic evil suit that you love to root against. 5-8 has a stoic, big brother vibe, and he is basically indestructible for reasons that are never really explained beyond him just being that strong and skilled.
When it tries to fit too many concepts into its limited running time, it always goes off topic. A powerful forward momentum is maintained by the conspiracy idea underlying the massive relocation scheme; nonetheless, the tale loses steam due to undeveloped or unnecessary plot developments, including mutants, kidnappings, and vaccinations. Black Knight, with just six episodes, thankfully doesn't have time to go too far off course. Tense, on-the-edge action and memorable character moments return in the film's final act.
I wish it were more focused and made a greater issue of the details of climate change rather than pinning the blame on a comet, but I doubt this program will be as warmly remembered as its inspirations. But Black Knight isn't just another post-apocalyptic narrative; it also manages to feel remarkably original.
SO, GUYS, IT'S A MUST-WATCH SERIES!
