Can't sleep so now I'm having late night desert duo thoughts again. Do you guys ever think about the paper scene and think about what would have happened if Grian had gotten the slip instead of Bdubs because personally I think Scar would have killed Grian no matter what. Grian was still on yellow at that point while both Bdubs and Scar himself were on red. I think Scar knew that no matter what it was always going to end the way it all started at that point, with Grian killing him, but simply wanted to make it easier for Grian to kill him. He knew Grian wasn't standing by his side to pay off a debt anymore. The moment Grian had decided to stay with him after turning yellow it was clear their partnership wasn't that of a leader and his lacky but of equals. Scar was always going to get Bdubs out of the way after killing Grian. I have no doubt in my mind that Bdubs was a dead man walking after he killed Grian by that river but Scar held back. He made Bdubs feel like he was safe and with a friend because remember Bdubs was loyal to Scar. The moment he gave him the watch Bdubs wasn't a threat to him and yet the moment Grian comes back looking for blood he turns his sword against his only other ally/ opponent and kills him in front of Grian despite Bdubs fighting to protect him and himself from what he assumed was their mutual enemy, Grian. Bdubs wasn't a threat to Scar and yet he still killed him the moment Grian came back as if it was some sort of a silent apology for what he had let happen. In that lake he made his own loyalties clear for the world to see and gave Grian his life and the enchanter and yet the ghost wanted blood they screamed for it and begged for a show. After all, there could only be one winner in this death game. Scar wanted to rebuild the home they had built he wanted to save Grian's second life and begged Grian not to listen to the dead but it's not his life anymore and he ends up following Grian to their final stage. Grian was always going to be the last one standing. Scar had laid his life down for Grian in that lake and from that moment on it was no longer his. That cactus ring was his final show. A testament to his life if you will but also to his own loyalty. He held back and jumped into cactuses whenever he had the chance in hopes that maybe the cactus would do him in and Grian could win without his blood once again covering his hands but sadly fate had different plans. Grian died twice in that ring without him even knowing it. The ghost got their show but the winner had long been known ,at least to Scar.

Ok so I just recently watched all three life series from scars pov again and I've come to a horrible realization...Scar doesn't hit grian once after third life and if he does he never shows it. When grian steals his first life in last life sure scar goes after him swinging but he never actually hits him just barely missing him every time and when he was the boogeyman and had the perfect chance to kill grian he simply doesn't. In double life it was grian who hurt scar to show him that they were soulbound. It never crossed scars mind to test grian like at all. Like he just accepted that grian was helping him out by giving him food whenever he was low on hunger and worrying about his life when he was low on hearts out of the kindness of his own heart. He was one hundred percent ready to accept that grian was going to be on his side without even being soulmates in a death game. He didn't care about who his soulmate was at all in double life but accepted grian as an ally right off the bat. And when he finally realized who his soulmate was via dripstone ,as pay back for grian not telling him sooner, he doesn't hit grian ,no, he punches a jellie panda and hurts himself. Everytime he wants to hurt grian he never physically hits him it's always him hurting himself. Grian on the other hand...in last life grian isn't afraid to hit scar. After stealing his life and running into Lizzie he takes out his sword and swipes at scar the moment he jumps down to their level but misses and he shots arrows at him willingly when he's on yellow and when on red despite not wanting to. On double life grian is the one who hurts scar physically. When showing him their soulmates he uses dripstone and when their hiding from the reds he uses dripstone to prank scar which almost kills them both. It's wild. Plus in last life scar is the only one with a cactus in a world without a desert and it's mumbo and grian who trades for it and in double life they make another monopoly on sand and somehow manage to find the only cactuses on the server to hide out by when on the run. Yeah they never left the desert but Scar never left monopoly mountain and Grian never left the cactus ring.
