If you made your 17-year-old daughter cry, you did something wrong. As a parent, you are NEVER supposed to be the cause of those tears. By 17, a girl is mature enough to only be hurt when it's really hurtful. And if you made her go to the extremes, and not only be silently hurt but profusely cry, then you definitely did something wrong. You are NEVER supposed to make your daughter cry. If you're going to be a parent, you have to understand that you're not first anymore. Your daughter is first priority. Her feelings come before your feelings, and her needs come before your needs. If she's sad, you're not supposed to go around and make her feel worse. You're not supposed to tell her that she doesn't have the right to cry and let it all out. You're not supposed to list all of her flaws at that moment. You're not supposed to list your stresses (and how they're worse than hers). And you're NEVER supposed to tell her she's stupid or immature.

uplift: (more on this later)

Ever since I came back from India, there’s been a constantly reappearing feeling in my gut. It’s almost like a hole, like something’s missing. And many times, I feel the onset of a couple teardrops when I think about my time spent there.

I never thought I’d be so sure about something in my life, but I am 1000% sure going to India with Uplift was the best thing I’ve ever done.

I met the most incredible people who have shaped me in such a different way.
