WHAT I DO IN MY OWN TIME IS MY BUSINESS AS LONG AS IT DOES NO HARM
Not to be a Boomer but your social media should be your own space, not something employers are allowed to look at to judge you beyond the qualifications stated in your resume and cover letter
So today I got a rather unkind comment on AO3 (one could call it hate), but I believe it to be a bot for several reasons:
Guest account, but username attached
Said username exists but person is unlikely to be reading Tolkien fic (according to their Tumblr and AO3, they are in other fandoms)
Two grammatically correct sentences
Super generic text that could apply to any fic:
"I've seen better fanfiction written by a toddler. Get it together!"
I'm curious, did anyone else get comments like this? Let me know.
And to those who have gotten rude comments and are now worried/upset: Maybe it was just a bot too. Either way: You're awesome for putting your writing out there for others to enjoy and you don't deserve to get rude comments for it. If you want feel free to message me to compare cases and discuss details :)
this obsession with ships becoming canon is so strange. like…the creator is gonna create a ship that appeals to them based on their life experiences. your life experiences are different, so you might value different things in a relationship. therefore, a different ship might hold more meaning to you than the course that canon takes. why do you need someone else to validate what makes you happy? why do you need it to be popular or canon when it appeals to you and that’s all that matters?
ship whatever the hell you want. love it loudly and proudly, and eat your crumbs like they’re cake. over analyze every stray glance, cry when they breathe the same air. imagine what their joint tombstone will look like! nobody, especially not the creator, is stopping you. they’re also creating silly little headcanons about their fave, the only difference is that they own the official source material. so just…be your own unofficial source material.
be the unofficial cookbook you want to see in the world but like, for romance.
clarke’s judge should have been dante wallace and i will die on this hill. he was one of her greatest teachers, even though he never intended to be. can you imagine how great that would have been?
not only did he give clarke her popular, “i bear it so they don’t have to” mantra that she carries with her throughout the ENTIRE show, but he was also a key figure in the mount weather conflict that shaped clarke and completely changed her.
