Elohim Does Not/ Cannot Show Favoritism
Last night, I was watching a show on YouTube called World’s Strictest Parents. This show is centered in the UK, where two considerably “bad” teenagers, go to stay with a thought-to-be “strict” family. Can you tell I’m not into labels? Anyway, it seemed to be positive entertainment, where mindsets would transform and a positive outcome would arise. Not to mention, I have been binge watching Supernanny episodes all week so this seemed to be on that level similarly. About 3 minutes into this particular episode, after introducing the “bad” teens and how they’ve been cursing and ignoring their parents, smoking weed and doing other drugs, and failing school- they introduced the “strict” parents and their well to do family with huge estate, nice car, and workout routines. I began to cringe because the woman whom was unmistakably the rod of this family named Evette, began talking about religion and how she knows she is “One of God’s favorites”. As soon as she said this, I thought about and went to look up Romans 2:11 in my Hebrew bible where it clearly states, “There is no partiality with Elohim”. (Elohim is the Hebrew origin equivalent to the title- God). This statement means that Elohim does not show favoritism to anyone over another. He loves all equally, and does not give to one over giving to another. Clearly, yes this woman was religious- but did she have and understand that Elohim wants relationship over religion? Relationship is quite simple, compared to religion that is quite confusing. Elohim is not the author of confusion, so in my opinion, He is not found in what the world calls “religion”. He is found in the seeking and reading of His Word. He is found in how we treat one another, and the peace we experience through having a relationship with Him. Anyway, I felt anxious that she would be taking these two lost but beautiful souls into her home with having already stated so many self-righteous things. We are to be righteous by the standards in Elohim’s Law, if not then by what else? As the show went on it was the first day the teens had arrived, and after having a drug dog come into their home and sniff the teens, while threatening that they would go to jail if they had anything (although they weren’t stupid enough to bring drugs into their home), Evette and her husband lied to the teens saying they were going to get some food- then later revealed while they were in the car that they were going to their church (to which the teens refused) and the only way they would eat that night is by getting through the service and eating the food that would be served there. Me, being a believer, knew this was unfair. To force non-believers to your church is mind-blowing to me- especially after not being forthright with where they were originally going, not giving them any options, and not even getting to know them as people before trying to drag them to a church, where you don’t know what type of past experiences or traumas may have occurred. There was not even a conversation about if they believed in The Most High. Just assumptions that they didn’t, which is very ungodly. Elohim wants us to do things out of a “good heart”. He also wants us to live His Word, and be his human imagers if we are believers. He wants us to make the world curious of our faith, by being kind, understanding, peaceable, humble, honest, and trustworthy. Overall- treating others the way that we would like to be treated. Not judging un-righteously, thinking our way is the right way, forcing others to think like us, and feeling like we are better than others. Sometimes the wrong encounters with “religious” people can turn others away souls from the Good News of the Gospel for life, which we cannot afford to do. We are imperfect beings and knowing that Elohim is the only perfect being outside of the universe. All his ways are perfect. How imperfect would He be if He could show favoritism?

"For there is expectancy for a tree, if it is cut down, that it sprouts again, and that its tender branch does not cease. Though its root grows old in the earth, and its stump dies in the ground, at the scent of water it buds and brings forth foliage like a plant”.

Treat Others the Way You Want to Be Treated
In modern times, the saying “treat others the way you want to be treated” is more properly known as, the “golden rule”. But did you know that the “golden rule” originated from the bible? In Luke 6:31, Jesus Christ (Yeshua Hamashiach) Himself states, “ And as ye would that men should do to you, do ye also to them likewise.” (KJV) In the New International Version, it’s simply stated as, “Do to others as you would have them do to you.”(NIV) No, Jesus did not give us rules, but he did give us helpful guidelines that would allow us to live an abundant life. The seemingly simple idea to treat others the way you want to be treated is a foundational action that leads into other guidelines that He gave us to live by. He told us to honor our mother and our father, He told us to not steal or kill, and to lend to the poor. If you treat others the way that you want to be treated, you will, by default, be doing all of these moral principals. This is perhaps, one of the most important duties you can act out in the Christian (qodeshim:set apart ones) walk. By intentionally living out the “golden rule” in our daily lives, we are actively bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit and showing others around us the love of our Messiah.

Whatever is true. Whatever is noble. Whatever is right. Whatever is pure. Whatever is lovely. Whatever is admirable. If anything is excellent or praiseworthy, think on such things. Philippians 4:8
