I love animals that are, like, the opposite of cryptids: we know for a fact they exist and have a clear idea of what they look like because we have photographs and individual specimens, but we haven’t the faintest idea where they’re coming from - they just keep showing up out of nowhere, and the locations of their actual population centres are a complete mystery.
I'm surprised Mirrormask (2005) isn't more popular on tumblr. Like what more can you ask for?
Gorgeous and original art and design!
A darkside emo version of the protagonist with a punk haircut!
Cats with creepy little human faces!
These things, which are inexplicably all named Bob (except for one that is named Malcolm)!
Also Neil Gaiman is involved!
If you like fantasy, early CGI, steampunk aesthetics, jazz music, dreamscapes, creative costume design, or generally weird movies then please watch Mirrormask (2005) I need everyone to know about Mirrormask (2005)
I live where it's already hit 33°C for the year and it won't get cooler until like November, so 15,5° is delightful, jealousy inducing weather I can only wish to see (probably by visiting the freezer section at the grocery store).
Idk if I've really talked about it here but I've been making a foray into woodworking and craftsmanship lately, with my latest project (currently on hold for a day or two because I am sick -_-) being a pair of digi stilts.
Unfortunately, because I am stupid, I have decided to make my next woodworking project a rocking horse. Not any normal rocking horse, no. A victorian style carousel horse made entirely of carved hardwood. One of these.
Evidence that my strange confidence I will be able to do this is founded in:
Truth:
I can purchase plans and an instructional video
I made these
And do this
Stupidity:
I learned how to use a woodshop like a month ago
I have never done woodcarving in my life
I barely know the difference between hardwood and softwood
I have literally so many other things to worry about
I will not be starting this immediately but if you start seeing a lot of posts about me being very frustrated with a project in a month or so. Now you know the reason!
“Hope” is the thing with feathers -
That perches in the soul -
And sings the tune without the words -
And never stops - at all -
And sweetest - in the Gale - is heard -
And sore must be the storm -
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm -
I’ve heard it in the chillest land -
And on the strangest Sea -
Yet - never - in Extremity,
It asked a crumb - of me.
