VIDEO: Man shoots two Frederick Officers, Given state funded vacation
This video just goes to show how quick things can change and you MUST react. This case also goes to show you how much the justice system doesn't value the good people in society and will give a free pass to the scum amongst us. This piece of society garbage, Dominique Lamarr Lewis, 27, of Hampton, Virginia was found not criminally responsible, for shooting and wounding two Frederick Police Department officers in February 2022.
After the attack, in a phone call in which he spoke with his grandfather from the Frederick County Adult Detention Center, Lewis said he didn’t care about the officers. Smith read the transcript in court while going over the statement of facts.
“If it was two men, I would’ve taken them out,” Lewis said in the transcript. He also mentioned how he would “try to kill one [cop] every day.”
He will remain at a mental health facility enjoying life only until some bleeding heart of Maryland's weak justice system decides he is no longer a threat.

Have your Maryland Handgun Permit (Concealed), but what about Renewing it?
Many people now have their Maryland Handgun Permit, whether they live here or in other states. You had to get the 2 day training course, livescan fingerprints, and digital passport style photo- then submit it all online the proper way to the Maryland State Police (or have our staff complete that part for you). When you got your permit, it is only valid for no less that 2 years.
So what do you do before it expires...?
It will be very similar to what you did initially to obtain it. First, you will want to obtain you required renewal training ( REGISTER HERE right now, All Renewal Training is HALF OFF!) only a one day course this time. You want to start looking at the schedule at least a year in advance. Currently, we are scheduling out as far as October 2024 and selling out classes classes as far as September 1 in Leonardtown.
What? You have a class in September selling out? Yes. Why? Because little less than 2 years ago we had an absolute rush of students coming to train with us once the process became less selective due to the Supreme Court stepping in and telling states like Maryland what those states already knew- their process was Discriminatory and Unconstitutional. Within 6 months we had training over 2,000 students. Now those students are coming up on their renewal in the next 6-12 months.
We have even had a few renewal students getting really ahead of the curve, with 18+ months left until their renewal. Note: the renewal training is valid for up to 24 months. So even if your permit doesn't expire until Feb 28 2026, you could still do your training now and it would still be valid when you go to renew.
Also note: you can not submit your application for renewal until you are within 3 months of your expiration date. My current permit does expire Feb 28, 2026- I wouldn't want to submit my renewal application any sooner than Dec 1 2025. But I could do my renewal training anytime between now and that date because currently I have 23 months until my permit expires.
At your renewal training with us, we can provide you with an updated digital passport style photo for you to use in your renewal application, which is required. You though WILL NOT need an updated livescan fingerprint. No livescan fingerprints are needed to renew your Maryland Handgun Permit (Concealed).

My new Shoulder Holster rig, Galco Miami Classic 2
I have been evolving in my methods of concealed carry. I have put on a little extra weight and want to try to shift some artificial weight off of my waist band. A majority of that weight on my waistband comes in the way of my handgun and extra magazines.
You'd be surprised the toll that a couple of extra pound attached to your belt can do to your hips. At times it can definitely be uncomfortable. At the end of the day, getting home and taking my pants off is often a relief. But, I am trying to change that.
One of the options I have been considering and finally took the dive regarding- a shoulder holster. I bought one a couple weeks ago, the Galco Miami Classic 2 for my Sig Sauer P365 X-Macro. This morning, I put it together and began breaking it in. Wore it out to the mall today under and opened face black button up. It still needs adjustment and I am still unsure of how I feel about it. I hopeful, but not sold. I have already found two short comings, two needs of mine that it isn't fulfilling.
But watch below as I discuss some of this in more depth and assemble the new holster.

Advanced Training?
We started this company in 2015 and have trained thousands of people in and around Maryland in those years since. And while many may think that training is all that they needed and wanted, many more understand that skills gained from our training will be lost if not used or practiced. And, to be frank, while the concealed carry classes that we offer may be pretty detailed and comprehensive in comparison to others offered in Maryland- they still are relatively basic in the overall scheme of things. They lay the base for even more detailed and hands on training to follow.
We started offering advanced classes in 2019 after so many voiced their desire for more. To learn more, to do more, to experience more. Being able to properly defend yourself isn't limited to buying a gun and taking an entry level 2 day concealed carry class- just as a proper education for the average American adult isn't limited to 1 year in a public school kindergarten classroom.
For these classes, we bring in industry experts with extensive training themselves with real world experience- often in law enforcement, emergency medical services, or military like myself. They travel from all over including but not limited to New York, Illinois, Utah, Virginia, Texas and more. 9 times out of 10 you will find me in class right along side you, learning and training just the same. If they bring value and I want to train under them- we will host them.
I don't bring in the local NRA instructor that is going to death-by-powerpoint you with black & white slides and hands you a certificate at the end. Many of these classes don't come with a certificate. Because as a civilian paying good money for quality training, it isn't about a piece of paper to hang on your wall or to turn in to some bureaucrat behind a desk so you can access your right- this is purely about making yourself more capable to defend yourself and others.
Just as I am with the classes I put on for my clients, I take the classes I attend as a student serious. I am a husband and a father of 3 with 1 on the way. I also regularly attend services and events at my church, which are often targets for violence. I carry a gun. I carry everyday and everywhere I am able to. I take on the role and responsibility with reverence. The classes that I attend, the instructors I choose, my attention given to the instruction/drills- could be what helps me win and secure those around me in the unfortunate chance I may have to use these skills and tools God has afforded me.
I implore you to do the same. Don't just put a check in a box. Don't just do the bear minimum or what is required of you. You and your family deserve much better than that. You truly get out of this what you put into it.

Advanced classes scheduled
We have now scheduled some more advanced training courses including Women's Pistol 1&2, as well as Home Defense. We are working to schedule more. What we schedule is based on your input and feedback, as well as sales. If these classes do fill up, we will schedule more accordingly. If a class doesn't sell out, we will more on to other classes in demand and possibly revisit that class again in the future.
These classes are limited in size to 12-20 max, once a class is full- we will put the word out accordingly and it will no longer be available for registration.

This is not a highly advanced class but IS NOT for those with no experience. If you have taken a 2 Day PTP concealed carry class, this is the perfect next-class for you.
Details about the Women’s Pistol 1 portion:
This half-day course is to help new and experienced shooters become more comfortable with pistol shooting and develop their skill sets. The first half of the course will be spent in the classroom answering questions and discussing the safety and handling of firearms. The focus is to make the shooter more informed and more comfortable with a pistol. The classroom portion will be followed by live fire drills conducted on a closed range so only those people in the class will be on the range. The topics that will be covered include:- Firearms Safety and Proper Storage- Cleaning and Maintenance of a pistol- Loading and Unloading- Fundamentals of Marksmanship- Defensive Firearms Use
Details about the Women’s Pistol 2 portion:
This half-day course is to build on the basic skills learned in Women’s Pistol 1. The entire course consists of basic and intermediate shooting drills to help develop a solid base in pistol marksmanship. The course will be conducted on a closed range so only those people in the class will be on the range. The topics that will be covered include:- Fundamentals of Marksmanship- Defensive Shooting Techniques- Drawing and Firing- Scenario-based shooting drills

This one-day course is to help citizens come up with a home defense plan and test out their chosen weapon system (pistol, rifle or shotgun) in real world scenarios. Students will review legal cases involving use of a firearm to defend a residence and debrief lessons learned. Those lessons will be applied in live fire exercises on the range. The topics that will be covered include:
- Clearing rooms
- Penetration / Cover / Concealment
- Legal Responsibilities
- Shoot/ No Shoot Scenarios
There will be classroom instruction along with live fire scenarios
