How to counter Google’s decision to kick out expansion ads
After June 2022, you’ll no longer be able to create or edit expanded ads in Google Ads. This will impact the search ads very much but here are few tips you can use to prepare your Google ad campaigns for the change.
Firstly let’s understand why?
One of the biggest reasons is that Google’s trying to promote AI automation products through ads which are reasonable to an extent as marketers can't keep up with everyday change happening in the market. And this way Google can promote Responsive ads where its AI keeps experimenting for the best combination.
To prepare for this change:
➜ I recommend that you have some responsive search ads in every ad group in your Search ad campaigns. This way you can have a well understood and tested set-up of other ads already.
➜ You can also try to repurpose the Expansion Ads content for Responsive ads instead of creating new material and can save resources.
➜ One another strategy many marketers are using is that they are creating and testing expansion ads before the deadline hits. So even after that, they will have some good ETAs in their campaigns.
You should start testing your RSAs and figure out what works best for your business so you’re not completely cut off from new ad creation when Google ads stop allowing new ETAs.
