I'm not sure if you ever got an ask like this before but Munakata introducing Mikoto to his family?
I think I’ve had a couple of these but they’re always fun so I like answering them XD Imagine this as like Everybody Lives AU and Munakata and Mikoto are dating, as it happens Munakata is visiting Mikoto at the bar and has to leave early. Mikoto figures Munakata’s just working as always but then Munakata says if you must know I am visiting my family this evening. Mikoto raises an eyebrow as he’s like so the aliens are coming down to commune, Munakata says in fact his family is perfectly normal thank you. Mikoto grins like if that’s the case you won’t mind introducing them to your boyfriend. He expects Munakata to decline and in fact Munakata starts to but then he gets a thoughtful look and says Mikoto has a point, perhaps he should introduce Mikoto to his family. Mikoto did not expect this and tries to get out of it but Munakata has decided he should just get this over with now and he knows full well that Mikoto doesn’t have anything else to do so he’s free to come along with Munakata to see the family.
Imagine as they approach Munakata’s family home Munakata is giving Mikoto all these instructions, like don’t smoke in the house around my niece and nephew, no swearing, no falling asleep, no being uncouth, no being a barbarian, Mikoto waves his hand like are you sure you want me to come. He’s surprised when Taishi opens the door and greets them both boisterously, he didn’t really expect Munakata’s big brother to be like this (that is, not a nerd). The kids are super excited to meet Mikoto, imagine Umi thinks he’s super cool and keeps running around him and Mikoto is getting tired just looking at her.
Munakata’s family are all touched to meet his boyfriend, like to think our Reisi finally found someone. Mikoto shrugs and lights a cigarette, ignoring the way Munakata glares at him as he’s like so you’re a gardener did you find Munakata in a bamboo shoot. Munakata’s parents are aware that their son is very special compared to them and Mikoto is like no, this is better, he should be more normal like you guys. Taishi is super excited and friendly towards his little brother’s boyfriend, Mikoto expected some protective sibling issues (like the way Munakata acts if Mikoto gets too close to Fushimi) but Taishi’s sincerely happy that Munakata has found someone. Mikoto gets to see some Munakata baby pictures and he’s pretty amused by that, like to think you haven’t changed at all since you were six Munakata. Imagine afterward he admits that he didn’t think Munakata was telling the truth when he said his family was normal — Mikoto figured it was a ‘Munakata thinks they’re normal but he doesn’t know what normal is’ — and Munakata wonders if that’s a problem. Mikoto says nope, it’s kinda nice actually, for a guy like Munakata it's probably for the best that he was surrounded by regular people at least once in his life.

If Munakata got sick, would Mikoto visit him? What if it was Mikoto who got sick instead? Do you think they would help nurse the other back to health? I could only imagine them criticizing the other for getting sick lol
They might visit each other but not so much the nursing back to health I think XD Munakata getting sick would probably be somewhat surprising, he gives off the air of someone who never gets sick. Even so maybe he catches a cold one day and ends up having to go rest in his room (imagine Fushimi getting some level of satisfaction for once being the one who tells Captain he needs to go take a break and rest). Say S4 ends up clashing with Homra during this time and Mikoto's mildly interested noting that Munakata is unexpectedly missing, afterward he hears from Kusanagi that apparently the Blue King is ill. Mikoto snorts like who can even imagine that guy getting laid up with a cold. Even so he's intrigued now and decides to invite himself into S4 to 'check on' Munakata, he probably ends up wandering the building scaring S4 minions for a while until he finally finds Munakata's room, where Munakata is sitting up in bed wearing a loose kimono and reading a book while coughing quietly.
Munakata expresses surprise that Mikoto's here, Mikoto shrugs like just wanted to check and make sure you weren't playing hooky, so even a guy like you gets sick huh. Munakata primly says that he is not sick, he's merely a little under the weather. Mikoto snorts and puts a hand to Munakata's forehead, all you're definitely sick idiot, shouldn't you be resting. Munakata fussily slaps his hand away and states that he is resting, he's reading a book. Mikoto's like that's not really resting is it, have you even gotten your men to bring you anything to eat. Munakata states he's perfectly capable of walking to get food himself, Mikoto's like is that so and practically dares Munakata to get up and get his lunch. Munakata claims he isn't going to be goaded into anything by the Red King, so of course he tries to get up and ends up being a little dizzy. Mikoto's pretty amused when he gets to be the one who catches Munakata and pushes him back into bed, imagine Mikoto terrifying the kitchen staff as he goes to get Munakata some soup. Munakata takes the food but notes that Suoh's bedside manner is lacking, considering Mikoto all but tossed the bowl at him and made quite a mess, and Mikoto's like I thought I was being pretty good, I didn't dump it over your head.
Reverse situation, Munakata finds out that Mikoto is sick and immediately thinks that of course he is, that man probably did something reckless and endangered his health and now no doubt he is lazing around in bed making others take care of him. Munakata would never deign to do such a thing of course, he only wishes to be sure that this illness isn't affecting Mikoto's Weismann levels and that's the only reason he shows up at Bar Homra when it's mostly empty bringing soup and tea and aspirin. Kusanagi raises an eyebrow upon seeing him but lets him go up, where Mikoto figures he must be hallucinating because it sure looks like Munakata is here. Munakata takes a moment to kick him lightly in the head and takes his cigarette all a sick man shouldn't be smoking, Mikoto liked Munakata better when he was a hallucination.
Mikoto's surprised that Munakata decided to show up and play nursemaid, Munakata claims he didn't intend anything of the sort as he pulls out a thermometer and tells Mikoto to open his mouth. Mikoto says the thermometer won't help, his temperature is high always anyway, and Munakata sighs like I suppose I should have expected as much. Considering Mikoto's unstable Sword and the nature of his powers I wonder if it would make the room a little warmer, imagine Munakata just sitting there and quietly using some of his own powers to regulate Mikoto's temperature. Mikoto doesn't intend to thank him for it and Munakata says he doesn't expect any thanks from someone such as Mikoto, and besides for once Munakata supports Mikoto being lazy and resting. Munakata adds that he has brought tea and some fortifying soup, here is some medicine to take every three hours and also this is for your throat, Mikoto laughs like so you really are the school nurse and Munakata states he is simply making sure that Mikoto's illness doesn't lead to any problems for the rest of them that's all.

So I've been rewatching and re-reading K stuff (yet again) and there was something that really really irked me the wrong way. When Homra are discussing "the new Blue King" in R:B Yata says "if only those Blues dare to try something with Anna again".....while they are actually the ones hiding the twins (who were involved in Anna's torture from Mizuchi to make her into the new Blue King alongside Shiotsu) from the new Scepter 4 under Reisi, since he wanted to bring them to justice. This is actually soo hypocritical and annoyed me to no end!?! The audacity to make Reisi out to be the bad guy when, let's be honest, he's the one person that always had everyone's best interest in mind and tried to always do the best possible thing for everyone and in every situation, yet the majority of people (both characters from the anime and irl fans) give him so much shit, totally undeserved! The truth is all of Homra should be thanking him for saving them again and again.....the ungratefulness is off the charts! But that line from Yata was the last straw for me!!! So I wanted to ask what are your thoughts on this matter?
I do think Munakata gets some undue shit from Homra’s end of things but most of my irritation on that point is like post-S1 with people blaming him for Mikoto’s death (and annoyance with the narrative itself that tends to paint S4 as in the wrong), I think the hostility makes more sense in the early part of the story. In this specific case, remember that R:B takes place before LSW, so Homra hasn’t helped the Minato twins at this point and their only interaction with S4 was the whole deal with Anna and the Center. That being the case I think it makes perfect sense that Yata would be distrustful, from his point of view these are the guys who did horrible things to Anna and now they have a new head. Yata’s not exactly the deepest thinker so I doubt it really occurs to him that there might be differences in leadership style between the old and new clans, and the idea that the previous S4 were doing what they did at the behest of Mizuchi and Shiotsu felt backed into a corner and that there was no room for argument isn’t something Yata would even consider. To Yata it’s just very simple, the twins were from the Blue clan and they were the ones harming Anna, so now that they have a new King he’s suspicious.
Similarly at this point it’s not like Munakata’s done anything that should make Yata trust him, in fact at that point he was trying to interfere with a Homra member and Yata’s whole natural tendency to see things as ‘us vs them’ certainly makes this seem like the work of a hostile adversary. I don’t have any issue with Homra and S4’s hostility pre-S1, they’re clearly different groups with different goals, and what Munakata wants is not necessarily more correct than what Mikoto wants — and obviously this changes more with S1, where Munakata gets painted by the show itself as being a bit more villainous, early on at least, even though at that point he really is right and is trying to save Mikoto, and then after when everyone keeps bringing up that he killed Mikoto as if he had any choice. I don’t blame Yata for being on edge about a new Blue King, to him all of Homra’s interactions with the Blues at this point have been bad and why should he show any special deference to Munakata, Munakata isn’t his King and Munakata’s way of Kingship is different than Mikoto’s.
Also as far as Homra hiding the twins goes, LSW actually makes note of this. No one’s super happy about sheltering them, that was Kusanagi’s decision because he’s on good terms with Shiotsu and was doing him a favor. After Akito fights at Homra’s side Yata basically immediately switches to seeing him in a more favorable light because Yata’s the type who sees someone fighting at his side as a sign that they’re comrades now, something Fushimi gets notably irritated by. I feel like could be seen as one of Yata’s good points honestly, he doesn’t hold grudges if it seems like someone’s stopped being his enemy and he’s happy to invite Akito as a comrade. Also on the end of  Character Development, Yata has a lower opinion of the old S4 members who would go to the new King because he can’t imagine ever serving another Red King besides Mikoto and so in the moment he’s more sympathetic to the twins because he thinks this is what he would do if his King was gone, not submit to the new one (and then when confronted by the actual reality of that situation in MK he sees that it isn’t so simple and changes his mind, because Yata has grown up a little).

Now that I think about it... how would a mikoseri date even go? Does totsuka just dress mikoto up??
I’m imagining Mikoto just standing there like a mannequin as Totsuka starts dressing him in a variety of ever more ridiculous ‘date’ outfits. A Mikoseri date would be interesting because I could absolutely see Awashima being very strict in her date ideas, like they should go to a nice cute cafe and have coffee and anko and she’s planning to dress nice even if the person she’s dating is the Red King of all people. On the other hand Mikoto isn’t exactly well-versed in this whole date thing, clearly he’s interested enough in Awashima that he’s agreed to this but he isn’t the type to think about what to wear or anything like that. It’s probably the day of his date and he’s sitting on the couch in his usual clothes when Totsuka stops by and is like King didn’t you have a date today, Mikoto shrugs and says not until later and Totsuka wonders if Mikoto’s going to change then. Mikoto doesn't get what he’s asking and Totsuka’s eyes start shining in a very worrying way as he’s like oh dear I guess I’ll need to help.
Cue some hours later, Awashima is sitting in the cafe dressed in nice casual clothes when Mikoto walks in probably wearing like some kind of ill-fitting suit (wait wait — imagine him in Munakata’s awful Seven Stories shirt with the ‘M’s all over it, Totsuka borrowed it). Awashima takes one look at him, Mikoto looking absolutely like a gloomy cat stuffed into a mortifying costume, and she just starts laughing. Mikoto sighs and sits down opposite her, Awashima wonders what possessed him to dress up like this. Mikoto sighs and grumbles ‘Totsuka,’ Awashima thinks it’s nice he at least allowed himself to be made presentable for a date even if it did end up with…this. Mikoto gives another heavy sigh and Awashima orders them each a nice anko snack, saying that she does appreciate the sentiment if nothing else but next time perhaps he should ask Kusanagi for help instead.

Which s4 member (that isn't Munakata or Fushimi) do you think would have a crush on Mikoto? Like they could find something about Mikoto that's interesting and also, what would they do about this?
Somehow…I feel like it would be Hidaka XD He’s the kind of guy who I think might be more willing to keep an open mind, especially if he saw Mikoto helping someone or doing something beyond the image of ‘the barbarian Red King’ (also Mikoto has pretty good sized boobs,  just saying). Like obviously all members of S4 are likely to be wary around Mikoto and get defensive when they see him just on habit, this is the Red King after all and they’re Blue clansmen, but I could see Hidaka as the kind of guy where if Mikoto did something that made him question his previously held mental image he’d want to know more. Like if he and Mikoto end up together in a dangerous spot somehow and Hidaka realizes that Mikoto’s keeping an eye on him without even saying anything, rather than being annoyed at being protected it makes Hidaka wonder if maybe they’ve misunderstood things all this time and suddenly he wonders what kind of person Mikoto might be if Hidaka got him to open up a little.
Of course it’s hard for him to really act much on this crush and Hidaka would probably be conflicted, because after all he believes in Munakata as his King and he wouldn’t compromise on that. On the other hand I could see Hidaka wanting to talk to Mikoto more as a person, like he’s not a Blue clansman talking to the Red King, he’s a guy trying to get to know someone who he thinks he’s misjudged. And of course the first time Mikoto shrugs and gives him a half-hearted compliment Hidaka basically starts wagging his tail excitedly but this is different from Mikoto’s clansman, like Mikoto finds himself thinking it’s more this guy is always a giant golden retriever and will respond to any positive attention this way.

yata is cute and all but i get the impression that during the making of season 1 they intended him to be way more lethal then what he actually ended up being, his first appearance in the show is him jumping off a fucking roof and torturing a mob boss with the rest of homra, chasing shiro (a highschooler) around the city with a bat ready to apparently beat him to death? and a few episodes later he burns some guy's forehead, i love softy Yata but i would have liked to see more of his slightly deranged side, im thinking it could compliment Saru's own sadism lol
Honestly I feel like Gora toned a lot of the characters down after season one in response to fan reactions – S4 in general feels like they're played much more antagonistically at the beginning of S1 and Munakata feels like he's intended to be somewhat more sinister and manipulative than he ended up being (like Side Blue the novel vs the 7Stories adaptation, I feel like the novel Munakata is portrayed in a darker light than in the later animated version). Similarly they tone Fushimi's sadistic side a ton after season one, after the first episode of ROK they basically abandon that side of Fushimi entirely. And while I do prefer complex depression disaster child Fushimi to one-note Yandere Fushimi I do wish they'd kept a little more of that twisted side visible after S1.
Yata I think gets a similar treatment, the early episodes of S1 in particular definitely go harder on angry gang member Yata and then he's slowly softened into ball of sunshine with a temper Yata. While I think you could argue some of the changes for both Fushimi and Yata are simply due to character development – Fushimi in ROK for example is dealing with more complicated feelings towards Yata so it would be a step back for him to just go full Niki mode every time they meet, and Yata's entire character arc is about him maturing so falling back into just being violent hair trigger temper guy would be a step back for his character as well – I do think some of that was a deliberate choice on Gora's part to make the characters more like what the fandom wanted to view them as. I've always had the impression that while Gora did have a vague idea of where they wanted K's story to go from the start (the Greens are foreshadowed as early as Side Blue) they also did spend some of S1 throwing things at the wall to see what stuck, like I fully believe we would have seen less Homra and S4 and more Ashinaka hijinks if the latter had been what turned out to be most popular. Instead fandom latched on wholly the Red and Blue clans and Gora decided to add some more layers to those characters, which unfortunately also resulted in sanding some of the rougher edges off.

I feel like Munakata shows more emotions without his glasses. In his fight against Mikoto at the last moment his eyes were so sad when he was going to kill and in ROK after getting punched he looked so soft and concerned when Fushimi showed up and he was visibly relieved. His glasses are like a mask that hide his emotions. How about some Reisaru or Mikorei where they ask him to take off his glasses but Muna is hesitant because they're his defence mechanism and feels insecure without them
The one thing Munakata never removed during sex was his glasses.
Mikoto wasn’t certain when he’d become aware of it. It definitely hadn’t been noticeable the first time, but then the first time had been on a hard concrete floor surrounded by rubble and they’d barely removed any of their clothes anyway, and it was a stretch beyond even Munakata’s personality to pause in the middle of tearing at each other just to remove his glasses and place them gently on a random piece of broken concrete. Munakata had insisted at the time that it would not be happening again anyway, and Mikoto had just nodded and offered him a cigarette and didn’t think twice about Munakata’s glasses, slightly crooked on the bridge of his nose.
Of course it had happened again (and again, and again after that), and Munakata still wore his glasses every time. It didn’t matter where they were — the floor of another building or upstairs in an empty Bar Homra, Mikoto’s apartment or, on rare occasions, Scepter 4 (Munakata glaring at him and commanding him to leave even while pushing him into an empty supply closet or unused conference room, stuffy as always and insisting that such locations were inappropriate for this kind of affair, and Mikoto would bite his lips and tell him to shut up and things would proceed regardless of Munakata’s complaints), no matter where their trysts occurred Munakata would always leave his glasses on.
“Take them off.” Mikoto was lying in bed naked, smoking a cigarette and watching with some amusement as Munakata huffed and smoothed out the sweat-stained sheets beside him, unlit cigarette dangling from one hand and hair tousled, those glasses and the dignity that clung to him still like a flag hanging on to a pole in the wind the only thing separating ‘the Blue King’ from a surprisingly human Munakata Reisi.
“Excuse me?” Munakata arched an eyebrow and held out his cigarette for a light. Mikoto ignored that and sat up instead, reaching for Munakata’s face.
“The glasses. You can take them off, right?” Mikoto blew smoke and Munakata scrunched up his nose primly. “Or are those guys right — is all your personality in those glasses, Munakata?”
Even he had heard the rumors and Mikoto couldn’t deny they were amusing, the idea that if he took those glasses off Munakata’s face maybe that guy would become someone completely different. Munakata moved slightly out of reach of Mikoto’s outstretched hands, pushing the glasses stiffly up the bridge of his nose, and the lenses flashed.
“Is it any business of yours, if I choose to keep them on?”
“Nope.” Mikoto shrugged and reached for the glasses again. “Just wondering why you don’t take them off.”
“Perhaps I wish to retain the ability to see?” Munakata responded dryly and Mikoto grinned, feral.
“We’re not close enough for you, Munakata? Or are you just that blind?”
“I am not, as you say, ‘that blind.’ However, unlike those belonging to Kusanagi-shi, my glasses do in fact serve a function. Is it so odd I would wish for that function to continue, regardless of my own personal state of undress?”
“That’s a lot of words to say you’re that blind.” Mikoto reached over again and Munakata moved his head back, but Mikoto hadn’t been reaching for that and grabbed his wrist instead. It was an easy thing to push Munakata down after that, looking down at him from above while Munakata glared up at him, more irritated than cowed. Just as well, because if that guy could be cowed so easily he wouldn’t have been half as interesting.
“Unhand me, Suoh.”
“Maybe I want to see what your face looks like without those.” Mikoto ran a finger along Munakata’s face and only grinned wider when Munakata took advantage of the moment to bite him. “Eh? You’re becoming a bit of a ‘barbarian’ too, aren’t you, Munakata?”
“Perhaps I am simply responding to you in the only manner you seem to understand.” The light was reflecting off Munakata’s glasses, obscuring his gaze, and Mikoto found himself wondering if it was on purpose — Munakata wasn’t the kind of guy to hide behind defense mechanisms, but he was also the sort of person who considered walls to be a prudent preemptive measure against outside attack.
“Yeah, well…” Mikoto shrugged languidly, nipping at Munakata’s neck. Munakata seemed to settle slightly at that, still tense and ready to attack, to respond to aggression with a more polite aggression that was nonetheless its own kind of violence, and Mikoto took advantage of the moment to pluck the glasses off his face.
“Suoh—!” Munakata kicked him in the stomach and sat up, reaching for the glasses even as Mikoto moved back and held them up to the light.
“Hmm. So you really are that blind after all, huh, Munakata?”
“Return those at once.” There was irritation in those eyes, unrestrained and human, and Mikoto wondered if a bit of the Blue King had been trapped there after all, in the glasses he held in his hands. The air in the room certainly felt different now — Munakata Reisi, with tousled hair and no glasses and naked skin bitten red, and Mikoto laughed.
“Huh. So your eyes don’t look like 3s after all.” He leaned in close, picking up the cigarette Munakata had abandoned on the mattress and lighting it with a finger, then running a hand through Munakata’s bangs as he stuffed the cigarette into Munakata’s half-open mouth. Munakata slapped his hand away with a sigh, breathing in smoke and pushing his hair away from his eyes (and, conveniently, hiding them from view with his hand).
“Honestly, Suoh. You are the most incorrigible man.”
“Yeah. Guess I’m just a beast who needs to be tamed.” Mikoto tossed the glasses to the far end of the bed. Munakata immediately moved to retrieve them and Mikoto pushed at his shoulder, pinning him down again. Munakata’s eyes stared up at him and Mikoto found himself enjoying the sight, Munakata’s irritation so clear and plain to see, and no shining glasses creating an invisible blue barrier between them.
“Suoh…”
“Just shut up for once, Munakata.” He leaned in to kiss Munakata’s throat and Munakata arched his neck back, a small huff the only sign that he was at all displeased with the turn things had taken. “You look better this way.”
(In the end though, the glasses were still the first thing Munakata put back on.)
All things considered, perhaps that was why he had knocked Munakata’s glasses off early on in the fight.
Power was pounding in his ears and Mikoto could feel the Sword of Damocles above his head, crumbling to pieces, precarious, and every breath he took set it closer to falling.
He had always intended for the Blue King to kill him. He wouldn’t waver in that, and he wouldn’t apologize. Munakata had agreed, in a fashion, but then — “as Munakata Reisi, I want to save you.”
That guy always put the wishes of a ‘King’ above his own desires, so it was unexpected to hear him admit in his own voice that those desires had diverged. That being the case, the kind thing to do would be to allow ‘The Blue King’ to be the one who fought him, and to be the one who did the final deed.
Guess I’m not a kind guy. The Sword was beginning to crumble, and that expression on Munakata’s face wasn’t one he’d ever seen before — failure, regret, sorrow, the King’s facade crumbling as quickly as that Sword in the sky between them. If Mikoto had been a better person maybe those eyes would have been obscured by silver frames and shining lenses, by the mask that Munakata had melded so perfectly with it hardly seemed a mask at all.
But in the end, well — he never said he wasn’t selfish. Munakata’s feet were moving and the Sword was falling, falling —
— In the end, somehow, he preferred that the sword which pierced his chest be wielded by Munakata Reisi rather than the Blue King.
The light was dimming and Mikoto found himself staring up into Munakata’s eyes, fathomless pools of purple-blue that opened like a universe in front of him, and really, if it was the last thing he would ever see, Mikoto figured it wasn’t so bad a sight after all.
—
In the dark of the night, there was a single red light glowing.
Munakata took a long drag on the cigarette, breathing in the fading scent. Suoh’s brand, and Munakata had the blood-stained box in his pocket for later. He’d taken a single cigarette now though and breathed his way through it as he walked towards the bridge.
The night around him was blurry around the edges, a smudge of black marred by dark dots of trees and the stark white of snow beneath. He could barely make out the red marks of blood on his own hands and he couldn’t see the stars at all.
His vision was poor without glasses and he had to step carefully to be sure he wouldn’t trip over some unseen obstacle. Even so, he continued to walk and smoke, and his spare glasses remained in his pocket.
Even to the end, he would never know what that man was thinking. Mikoto’s face had blurred as he fell down in the snow, and in the dark it was impossible for Munakata to make out the blood that was surely staining Mikoto’s clothes. Perhaps it was best, this way — let his last memory be the vivid face to face in the snow in front of the shrine from the night before, when he had declared his intentions and Mikoto had responded with his own form of stubbornness. Let that be where things ended between the Red and Blue Kings, face to face, and his glasses that had been the only perimeter between them.
“You look better this way.”
The moon was only an indistinguishable hole in the sky above, and the end of his cigarette a small red firefly light hovering in front of uncertain eyes. Somewhere ahead he heard sounds, and chanting, and he could almost make out a hundred more of those fire lights beginning to burn up the sky.
He couldn’t quite tell though and the world remained only a detached and blurred thing, everything outside himself at a distance to his eyes.
The cigarette had nearly burned itself out, and Munakata stopped dead for a moment and waited. Once it was done he would step forward again. This moment alone was his, standing in the darkness his eyes couldn’t see through, and the cigarette dropped to the ground.
The Blue King Munakata Reisi continued forward to the bridge, and put his glasses back on.
