I’m going on a quest to find these trolls #beautiful #art Repost from @npr • Thomas Dambo and his collaborators have created dozens of trolls in mountains, forests and parks around the world, from China to Puerto Rico. These 15- to 30-foot-high sculptures made out of scrap wood have earned Dambo the title "one of the most prominent recycle artists in the world." Dambo both designs the trolls and writes their fairy tales. "They're real to me," he says. "I know it sounds a bit crazy." The most important thing for Dambo is that his trolls draw people into nature "to have a good experience there." And he hopes people see that garbage can be turned into something big and beautiful. "I like to think that my art can help change people's perspective from trash being something that has no value to something that has a big value," he says. It's also striking if you know the backstory: For these girls — who for years were prohibited from going in the water by their conservative Muslim culture — learning to swim is a revolutionary act.
