the sudden smile that appears on his face tells her immediately that she fucked up with the name - calling . well , she'll burn that bridge when she gets to it . once the doors open there's not much time for anything else to get in the way of worrying about . jesus christ - she didn't think she could be shocked anymore but the piercing screams catch her off guard , even if only momentarily . she'd done her research , sure , but this was something else . within minutes her shoulder was already pushing back against the arms and torsos thrown over the barricade . any prior resignations about her assignment fall to the backburners of her mind as priorities fall into play , number one being get him to the car against the growing tide of outstretched hands and phones flashing like a never ending storm . reflexes still fast enough to block any gifts being throw towards the assignment from actually hitting him aside from the few soft things landing in front that she needn't worry about for now . besides the occasional ' okay ' to stop for pictures and the ' alright we gotta move on ' , there's not much room for conversation until they near the quiet safety of the large vehicle waiting at the end of the walkway . a quick look down at her watch . raising her voice enough to be heard over the crowd but not by it " we've got 5 minutes before departure . anything you want to say to anyone make it quick . and then we're out . "

yeah...she really, really doesn't like him. he wonders briefly why she took this job, if maybe bodyguarding isn't her usual gig. she's beautiful, he notes, but it's a mere observation  ━  attractiveness is an objective thing when it comes to arlo, something he's desensitized to on account of the industry he's a part of  ━ she's also got a FLAWLESS POKER FACE . this he's aware of because though her face is a blank slate, there's still a tightness in her shoulders, tension in the rigidity of her spine. he grins at the nickname, doesn't think he's been called star boy before but he thinks he might change his twitter display name later in the day. ❝ aye aye, cap'n, ❞ he jeers, and they're off. though, really, it isn't arlo's behavior that barnes  ━ just barnes ━ will have to worry about. as swift as arlo and his unwilling companion might be, his fans are quicker. they're FAR MORE VICIOUS , too, with groping hands and high - pitched squeals and adoring, bright eyes.

" her declaration is accompanied by a cocky little shrug of her shoulders. yeah. she'll be blaming this one entirely on quill.
