Why I am Not Behind Izuocha Despite Its Canonicity

I would like to start by saying I don't think ships are valid because they're canon honestly. Its nice when they're endgame, yes, but just because they are, doesn't mean you HAVE to like them. I like Izuocha, but more as a brotp because I couldn't get their dynamic, and believe me I tried to ship it, because they're not a toxic ship and pretty cute in their own way but my heart was drawn to Kacchako. I'm also a bit of a multishipper but I still didn't get it.

I see the good points about about shipping Izuocha, and while they're right, I just wanted to point out some things. Please hear me out. Ochako has had the most character development in the Sports Festival arc and in the aftermath of it. As soon as she learned about her crush however, she pretty much came to a standstill. She's a strong lady, but its rather sad that every time she has the spotlight on her after this point, Deku keeps getting a mention somehow.

Like I love her and all, but she recently feels badly written. Can't she have some time to herself without the mention of Deku at all? Or she could be the traitor and thats why she has a lack of focus to make us forget about her, but her being traitor is slightly irrelevant right now when everytime she's highlighted Deku kept getting referenced somehow. There are alternatives to just "being a love interest." She could be mentioning an important detail in a story, or relaying info, and have the crush brought up at few points, not every moment she gets in the manga. My point is, its pretty obsessive almost, and could be considered a bit misognyst, owing to the fact that she's supposedly the main female when Momo gets more screen time than her and the few times she's spotlighted her crush comes up. And for those people who say its not obsessive, just because she says she repressed it, it's not a healthy way to cope with it, and the obsession still pretty much exists.

Also Deku so far has seen her as his first friend, more than a love interest, and Deku is generally shy and blushy around all girls due to lack of interactions with them when he was younger, so its hard to know whether he genuinely likes her or not. As for the caring/crying for Ochako part, Deku is a protagonist who generally cares for people, and we see how intense his friendship is with Katsuki and Todoroki is, so of course he would be concerned for Ochako, and since he's emotional, would cry for her like he's done for Katsuki while he was kidnapped, during Eri's arc for Eri, and so much more. I'm not downplaying Izuku's emotions, but crying/caring for Ochako is not a special case, as people have used it as a point in their shipping.

And then, there's the problem with how the ship is happening in canon. If we go by Horikoshi's reasoning on how she crushes on Izuku, then Izuku has a major, major crush on Bakugou. Her crush feels like idolisation and admiration, like almost a celebrity crush , with dashes of blush, that's all. Many bakudeku fans have pointed this out already and presented their proof. Of course its not gonna happen, but thats how Horikoshi has presented Ochako's crush on Izuku, so if we apply the same rules, then Izuku is presently crushing on Bakugou. Or, they're in both cases just feelings of admiration and love that could easily subside into platonic/already pretty much platonic feelings, and its just because Izuku is a guy with attractive traits of course, and she is heterosexual so she has some feelings but in my opinion, they feel a bit shallow and they'll realistically go away eventually.

Horikoshi might do a last minute change of heart and suddenly Deku's "suppressed feelings" will come out in the end. Its basically not a very well written, which is why a lot of people don't ship it, also the characters dynamic seems very brotp and one sided, even in canon. I love an Izuocha best friends dynamic, but romantically it feels forced.

I'm sorry for whatever toxic Kacchako shippers who just want to unnecessarily hate on Izuocha, but at least this a point of view from those who aren't like that. I don't hate it, I think they're just better as friends than lovers. Or if they do date, they'd be the high school couple everyone thinks is gonna be together forever, but break up (on good terms of course) and still be very close friends. Izuku does need someone like Ochako to motivate him and bring him up when times are down. And you can continue shipping it, faults and all. Its not like Kacchako/Midotsuyu is perfect either.

Kacchako and Midotsuyu is not canon, we accept. But please dont portray us or treat us as toxic people who cant get a life and accept whats written down, its a hypothetical situation with some proofs and theories on how it could go, based on canonical evidence. Also, some people just vibe with it, more than Izuocha or Kiribaku. Thanks for reading! <3 I did not intend to offend anyone, just stating my viewpoints on the whole thing.
