“ It has been some time, hasn’t it? ” William returned with a polite smile, striding towards the renowned Division One hunting dog with the grace and quiet confidence of a man who feared none of those tales and rumors and prejudices that surrounded— that plagued— the man-made, subservient underclass of their society. “ Unfortunate that our reunion be under such distressing circumstances. ” He came to a stop as he reached the Enforcer’s side, a soft sigh passing his lips as scarlet eyes fell upon the sealed pharmacy. Inside sat innocents that would almost certainly never again be the same as they were. Already William could see them— the wild eyed panic brightening their eyes, minds forever frayed from exposure to a situation their fragile psyche’s had never learned to handle. The revered Prophetess herself forsaking her children with a cruel hand and a cold gaze, never again will the people inside this hellfire escape to know the taste of the life they’d once known.

It was REPULSIVE. The way human beings were shuffled in and out of favor with her who reigned supreme, here who only by design of her people had grown into power to begin with. That victims of true evil; innocents tanged and captured and abandoned by a protector turned persecutor, would face either capture or death— no, not death. Complete and utter ELIMINATION by the end of this standoff.

“ Well, ” William said, breaking the silence that had fallen between him and his companion, “ I suppose we have our orders. ”

Shinya glanced at the other man, keeping his expression guarded. As always, it was impossible to get a decent read on the Inspector. No matter the training he had, the lessons he had with Saiga-- you simply couldn’t read what wasn’t there. And there was nothing behind that eerily placated smile that Shinya had ever been able to read.

“ Right, ” he agreed quietly. Orders to carry out. Orders that in no way called for the protection of those held hostage inside because no longer was their safety a priority. They were simply criminals now on the other side of the line of drones separating the MWPSB and the captured pharmacy. Criminals that must be taken care of at any and all costs.

And as an Enforcer, that was his sole and only job.

He remembered a time when he’d been hopeful. Had the same bright-eyed gaze and starry innocence of his own Division’s newest Inspector. A time before the appearance of the Psychotic Prince and his grotesque human sculptures. A time before the death and loss of one of their own here in the Bureau. A time before the discovery of the man who held the entire city at random and dancing on strings while he sat in the darkness with only a blurry photo and surname to give him away.

“ Let’s get going then. ” He spoke up, casting a quick glance at William before stepping back into the storm. “ I’ll be your escort until Moran arrives. ”

@wjmoriarty // “ Long time, no see. ” Shinya called over to the approaching Inspector, a single dark brow quirking upwards as he spoke. A trademark cigarette hung from his lips, nearly burnt down to a smoldering orange ember and the taste of it already going sour. “ I was beginning to wonder who they’d called in for backup. ” The rain was torrential. Pouring down in heavy streams that chilled you down to the bone in mere seconds and the current situation at hand offered no relief. At least dozen hostages, their captors armed and agitated. The pharmacy on total lockdown as per Sibyl’s orders to keep the situation contained and manageable. ‘ Manageable. ’ Shinya thought bitterly, tossing the cigarette to the ground and crushing it under-foot. Already there had been two deaths and the area Psycho-Pass had been steadily rising the longer the stand off went on. The questioning murmurs and panicked realizations spreading through the masses like wildfire.
