Tips for CA Foundation- CPT Exam
CPT is the first stage examination administered by India's Institute of Chartered Accountants for the Chartered Accountancy course. CPT stands for Common Proficiency Test which tests the basic understanding of Accounting, Business Laws, logical Reasoning and Commercial Knowledge for a candidate. The CPT exam is split into four papers. Principles and Practice of Accounting being the first paper, while, Business Laws & Business Correspondence and reporting being the second paper. The second paper has two sections, A & B. Business Laws and Business Correspondence & Reporting, respectively. Business Mathematics and Logical Reasoning & Statistics being the third paper which also has two parts 1 & 2, Business Mathematics & Logical Reasoning and Statistics, respectively. Fourth paper will be Business Economics & Business and Commercial Knowledge, which also has two parts. The review is an objective form with a minimum passing mark of 40 per cent in each of the paper and an aggregate overall score of 50%.
Passing the CA CPT exam certainly opens the door to a massive opportunity in the Chartered Accountancy industry to aspire to future CAs. Here are just few basic tips:
 CA-CPT Exam Tips
Syllabus: It's important to understand the syllabus to sort topics that are more relevant to the exam. As you study for the CA-CPT test, you can concentrate more on topics that are commonly asked in previous years.
Study Plan: When planning their tasks ahead, people strive to do more as usual. Planning creates greater discipline and lets you study regularly.
Focus on all papers: A candidate must obtain an aggregate score of at least 40 percent in each of the four papers and a cumulative score of 50 percent must be obtained. And you'll need to focus specifically on all four papers.
Accounting: Chartered Accountant career would include in-depth expertise of accounting. It is the main subject, so students appearing for the CA-CPT review need to concentrate on the topic of accounting. It is important to get clarity on the basic principles of accounting.
Business laws: After accounting for the CPT test, it is the 2nd most important subject. Study the subject extensively and get to know the main topics of Business Laws. It is also a highly scoring subject.
Business Economics: Be familiar with Micro Economics and Indian Economic Growth topics. While, from an analysis point of view, microeconomics is more scoring, knowing important topics covered by Indian Economic Development is also necessary.
Logical Reasoning & Statistics: Concentrate on the content of CPT syllabus listed for Logical Reasoning to take your training in the right direction. It is necessary to understand key mathematical and statistical concepts to score well in the CA-CPT exam. Again, routine daily analysis of the Statistical questions is crucial to progress.
Previous Model & Previous Question Papers: It is not complete to prepare for an exam without reviewing previous question papers or practicing mock papers. Understanding previous test papers lets you grasp the exam's query patterns. And the use of review query papers helps you to answer more problems and speed up.
Speed and accuracy: Candidates should be careful when answering questions as there is negative marking in CPT test. 1/4 mark is deducted for any wrong response, so emphasis should be given to reply accurately while maintaining pace.
Revise: Make it a point about 2-3 weeks before the exam to check what you've been learning until now.
Stay positive: It's really important to stay calm and to keep a positive outlook. Having yourself in the competitive CPT exam mode will place you under tremendous pressure. You need to recover from the tension of the test, to be able to face the CPT test with great caution.

Which is the best course CA or CMA?
Hey, are you confused between two interesting courses in the corporate world which have their own place? Okay, both courses are known to be the hardest courses, and require a genius IQ from you. Someone who chooses between two of these, i.e. The CA and CMA need to be involved in playing with the numbers.
Every student has a different skill and interest so we can simply direct you on both the courses, their position, their rewards, their length, the demands of the industry and other relevant factors after studying which you have to decide the career choice is best from your perspective.
Therefore we have drawn some conclusions after a lot of analysis and deep study which will be useful to you in choosing between CA and CMA as a profession.
Let's look first at the simple introduction of the two courses
 CA (Chartered Accountancy)
You must have known already that Chartered Accountancy is the most reputed course in the field of commerce. ICAI, and only ICAI has the authority to award the CA degree.
CA is also considered to be the hardest course in the world, and the Indian Chartered Accounting body, i.e. ICAI is recognized as the world's second-largest accounting agency.
CA is well known in the business world for winning high bonuses and also held responsible for managing the company's financial and legal matters. The career is daunting as a CA also needs updating itself with the laws and case studies that have been amended.
Because of CA's professional expertise in different fields such as accounting, auditing, taxes, finance, corporate law, he is eligible for appointment on various job profiles such as internal auditor, fund manager, financial advisor, etc.
In addition to the above, only Chartered Accountants in India are allowed to audit an organisation's financial statements.
 Course Structure
CA course is divided into three levels-CA Basic, CA Intermediate and CA Final along with three years of practical training. This practical training is also a mandatory part of CA curriculum that makes a CA student a true professional. Studies of CA go far beyond book learning experience. Here the students were prepared to face the real-life challenges.
 Duration
In the CA Course the cumulative length is a minimum of 4.5 years including 3 years of articleship preparation. Upon qualifying for the 12th Standard, one may register for his CA Foundation entrance test.
Demand
Chartered Accountants are extremely experienced in various fields and even enjoy F.S monopoly. Auditing, thus demand in the corporate world is increasingly growing. Companies are finding an employee who can perform the various tasks and CA's are considered ideal for this job profile.
 Job Profile
A CA can work on the multiple Job Profiles such as –
1.    Statutory Audit.
2.    Internal Audit
3.    Advisor in Direct or Indirect Taxation
4.    Handling Transfer Pricing
5.    Financial and Accounting Management
6.    Investment Decisions
7.    System Audit (after clearing DISA/CISA)
8.    Handling the Companies Legal Matters etc…
Average Salary
An average salary of 6-7 lakhs has been offered to a fresher Chartered Accountant which increases with experience and ability. However, generally 10-12 lakhs are given to the candidates who fell out at the first attempt, and up to 25 lakhs are given to Rank Holders.
Those who want to pursue Chartered Accountancy can take the guidance of a number of institutions available in our country.
  CMA (Cost and Management Accountant)
CMA is largely Cost Accounting focused. The main subject of CMA research is financial and funds management. Their work description is to keep and manage the cost records, goods / services pricing, cost records verification, etc.
Though CMA has begun to emerge in India, their reach is still very small. Yet we may claim that this is a path to the future. CMA is the only person allowed to conduct the firm's cost audit.
 Course Structure
CMA course, similar to CA, is also divided into three tiers – CMA Formation, CMA Intermediate and CMA Final. The students are eligible for enrollment in the CMA Foundation course after qualifying for 10 + 2 test.
 Duration
The length of the course at CMA is at least 3-4 years. CMA training is a mandatory part of this course, too.
 Demand
As we have already discussed that every company is not required to get the cost audit done. Companies working on a very large scale are required to appoint the cost auditors. Hence, the demand of CMA is very limited but it is expected that the demand will rise with the passage of time.
 Job Profile
A CMA can appoint on the below-given job profiles –
1.    Cost Accounting
2.    Cost Auditing
3.    Financial Planning
4.    Determine the Prices of Goods and Services.
These are some basic job profiles where the CMA can be appo
 Average Salary
A CMA's average wage is about 3-4 lakhs, which increases with time and depends on one's skill as well.
You have to get clarity about both the courses with the above discussion. As far as we advise if you're looking for a course today, you need to go with Chartered Accountancy, which is growing rapidly, and if you're planning to say in the future after 10-15 years, you can select CMA, which is expected to expand over time.
Nonetheless, we leave it this to decide yourself by considering the monetary terms, Work Availability, Depth and Information as well as Opportunities. We at PR Academy, offer CMA Coaching Classes and also CA Coaching Classes in Coimbatore. Click here to enquire about the classes.

CA VS ACCA, what is difference and which one is best?
This is a very common question faced by most students. CA and ACCA is the most valuable course in India.  But ACCA is becoming popular in India. So confusion arising about ACCA and CA, no value changing for CA course in India. CA is the evergreen choice another one not ensure that much because of its newest. Its like mobile battery life. Both courses are highly respected and focused on the content and realistic approaches to learning.
Chartered accountants are those practitioners trained to perform complex accounting practices such as auditing financial statements, filing tax returns and financial advice. The professional body that oversees this community of accounting professionals is the ICAI (institute of Chartered Accountants of India) under the Parliament Act.
ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is a national Chartered Accountancy certification. It is a very versatile course, as students can write the papers in the 4 exam windows at any time. The additional benefit is that, unlike CA, they only need to write the particular paper in case they don't clear one paper and not the whole group
Can one jointly do ACCA and CA?
Most experts who have been in this field for quite a long time and have also been through this journey think that one should apply first for CA and then try ACCA, as this way you would have already completed the 3-year articleship and along with it you will also be released from 9 out of the 15 exams that are a part of the ACCA curriculum.
As you have the right to sign audit books internationally as well as in India, ACCA and CA should train you for a professional life that has no geographical boundaries.
