Happy March Madness.

Here's a story about the falability of memory: in 2003, the first round of the tournament was in Eugene, OR. As a basketball obsessed middleschooler in nearby Portland, I had to go. I remember seeing LSU, that they had a really good and really short player on their team. Telling my wife this story this evening, I was also positive that one of the other trams had been Gonzaga. The other teams were completely erased from my memory.

Today, I had the sudden realization: did I see LSU when Seimone Augustus was playing? And the answer is YES. She was a sophomore in 2003. Do I remember her playing? No. The short player I remember is Temeka Johnson (she's 5'3", which would stand out on the court). She played in the W for many years. And the other teams I saw were Washington (not Gonzaga), Green Bay, and Texas State.

Thanks to my wife and to Wikipedia for helping me sort out my memory. Wish I had a better memory of seeing Seimone play.

Feeling vindicated in my initial assessment. "White" is not a racial slur, nor is "bastard." At worst, she made a bad choice during a stressful moment. Though seems more likely some asshole cop is trying to harass her with the legal system.
