i love ur writing!! anyways i wanted to request the reader being nervous about leaving hogwarts on their final days of 7th year and draco reassuring her and telling her that everything’s going to be okay,, i hope that made sense:)

hogwarts was a place that held so many cherished memories to me throughout the years - despite how much i had complained about exams, the excess of work and, you know, the whole war that went on.

it was where i met my dear boyfriend, the place where our story unfolded from cracking a hard boy’s exterior to unlock the soft and caring, sometimes insecure interior. it was where i’d made friendships that would hopefully prolong forever, where i’d gotten the grades i needed to push me forwards to the future. not only all the sentimentality values, but it was also a stable schedule for me.

everyday, the same routine. easy. now, we’re already about to go off into the ‘real world’ as adults - it just seemed to come all too fast. after seven years, i still sometimes feel like a young, almost lost child.

as i sat next to draco in the dining hall, playing with his fingers and using my other hand to fiddle with the expensive ring on a chain necklace that he’d given me, he knew something was bothering me. although he knew exactly what it was, it didn’t stop him from shaking our clasped hands to get my attention and asking, “what’s going on in that pretty head of yours?”

and so i told him. the worries of instability, how everything was changing too quickly. before i got too deep into a rant, he stepped away from the table and led us away, out the dining hall and straight towards the common rooms. it was only when we reached our private dorm that he’d shook off our robes, jumped on his bed and pulled me into his chest. i led tangled comfortably almost on top of him as he stroked my hair in soft and slow motions, asking me to continue talking to him. ‘let it all out’.

“well for starters, jobs. i’m so worried i’ll mess up, or i don’t do well. and we’re adults now, draco. we have to start doing real things and being independent. god, i know it sounds immature and i sound stupid - ”

“never, love.”

“maybe not to you, but i feel it. and i won’t see you everyday, or all our friends. what if we don’t talk anymore? oh my, what if we drift apart?” i sat up and looked at him worriedly, seriously just burying myself further into a pit of anxiety. “would you still want to be with me even if you don’t see me everyday?”

he scoffed and pulled me back down, chuckling at my exaggerated pout that i sent and said, “you’re overthinking, Y/N. of course i will. your friends will write, you’ll still be able to visit each other. and you know i love you, you fool. how could i leave you? if anything, not seeing you will just make me want you near me more.”

his hand went back to the soothing movements and i felt my mind try and take in his comforting words. i tried so hard to believe them, but still felt some discomfort and unease in my chest. “you have to promise.”

his chest moved from a laugh but he held his pinky infront of my face anyway. i grinned and interlinked our small fingers, “this is a solid oath, malfoy. you can’t break this now.”

“wouldn’t dream of it.”

we stayed quiet for a few moments before he said, “malfoy? calling me by my last name?”

i laughed and scooted up further so that i could see his features on his beautiful and familiar face. “problem?”

he smirked, and i felt like all my worries disappeared. insignificant, now. could never happen, not when this boy looked that good. “if you like it so much, how about taking it? then you won’t have to worry about us not seeing eachother anymore - one less problem.”

once his words registered in my head, my mouth gaped open slightly. i laughed incredulously, “is this your way of proposing, draco?” my voice was playful and had amusement behind it, but the question made my heart flutter with a strange sort of hope.

he shrugged casually but didn’t meet my eye, a small pink rising to his cheeks. silly draco and his silly pride. “yeah, if you want. i’d always assumed it would happen anyway.”

i pulled away from his embrace and pretended to be serious, “no thanks, i’ll want a fancier proposal than that.”

he chuckled and pulled me back again, roughly and in faux demand. a short yelp left my lips but i eventually settled back into his side, warm and comfortable.

“seriously though, there’s nothing to worry about. not about leaving hogwarts, not about your jobs, not about your social life and certainly not about us.”

“i hope so.”

“i know so.”

he then tapped my nose playfully, “i love you, darling.”

i tilted my head up and smiled at him giddily, already feeling better and reassured. it felt like everything would be fine when i had draco by my side, because he made me feel like a better person. he wasn’t the best with words, but he made me feel like i could get through things by myself.

and i could. i was independent and confident enough, everything would be fine.

“i love you too, malfoy.”
