Did Jesus' resurrection happen?

‘Resurrection’ is defined (generally) as “bringing something that had disappeared or ended back into use or existence” and (in Christianity) “Jesus Christ's return to life on the third day after his death, or the return of all people to life at the end of the world.”
Jesus (born 6-4 BC, died 30-33 AD) was a first-century Jew who led a ministry focused on seeking and saving the lost and calling sinners to repentance. In each of the gospels, he predicted his death and resurrection. Jesus died by Roman crucifixion, and three days later, his disciples and other eyewitnesses reported having seen him again, risen and alive.
Christianity hinges on Jesus’ resurrection being true. First Corinthians 15:12-14 says, “Now if Christ is proclaimed as raised from the dead, how can some of you say that there is no resurrection of the dead? But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then not even Christ has been raised. And if Christ has not been raised, then our preaching is in vain, and your faith is in vain.”
A 2022 Lifeway research found that 66% of surveyed US adults believe the biblical accounts of Jesus’s resurrection are accurate, including 58% of those aged 18-34

Jesus is believed to have died for the sins of humanity, encouraging early believers to convert from Judaism to Christianity following his death, so it wasn't in vain. Believers used the resurrection story to promote conversion to Christianity, which later justified brutal wars against believers and non-believers alike. However, simply put, Jesus' resurrection couldn't have happened because dead people don't come back to life. Science has yet to prove how it would have happened, and attempts to disprove resurrection claims are futile in the face of a global religious community whose existence is propagated by the story. Some historians regard the Bible as fiction, noting uncanny similarities between its stories and Greek mythology. Like Jesus, the Greek god Hercules, also born of a human mother and divine father, was known as the world's savior. Thus, Jesus' resurrection is as fantastical as old Greek and Norse myths, albeit less exciting.
Other theories suggest that Jesus did not resurrect from the dead, producing plausible explanations for his empty tomb. The swoon theory claims Jesus never actually died on the cross but 'swooned' or fainted. Therefore, he was placed in the tomb undead, eventually able to wake up and leave his tomb. Another is that those who went to recover Jesus' body mistakenly went to the wrong tomb. Likewise, it is possible Jesus' body was stolen to perpetuate this claim that he was a risen lord. Skepticism toward a bodily resurrection of Jesus persists due to concerns over the absence of empirical evidence, the apparent influences of mythology on the gospel accounts, and alternative naturalistic explanations, not to mention the fact that people do not rise from the dead. Continued rigorous scrutiny and critical analysis of such historical claims is necessary for many things, including the resurrection.

The resurrection and gospel accounts present compelling evidence that cannot be theorized away; They were written in the first century (closer to Jesus' lifetime than accounts for Alexander the Great were), included eyewitness testimony, and contained embarrassing details (such as the disciples' cowardice following Jesus's death), which legitimize resurrection claims.
The 'historicity' (historical authenticity) of the events surrounding Jesus' life and death shows the resurrection happened. Historical evidence—like his empty tomb and the witnesses of his death and burial—is affirmed by secular and religious scholars alike. Even non-Christian sources confirm Jesus lived, died by crucifixion, and was later seen risen by the disciples and many others. The gospels even highlight women as the first to see Jesus alive, which is significant since women's testimonies were not legally recognized. They certainly would've excluded such witnesses from the accounts if they had made this up. Enemies of Jesus even acknowledged his empty tomb, accusing the disciples of stealing his body. If Jesus were truly dead, the Romans and Jewish authorities could’ve produced his body at any time to squash resurrection rumors. Even modern scientists, such as physicist Daniel Gordon Ang, have stated 'the theory that Jesus rose from the dead is a much more plausible explanation than any of the other ones.'
Finally, why would Jesus's disciples endure such persecution, torture, and even martyrdom for a lie? Most of Jesus's disciples later endured traumatic deaths. No one knowingly dies for a lie, especially when they've gained no power or riches from it. The disciples were emboldened by what they had seen—the risen Jesus—enough to 'die for what they knew to be true.' Approximately 2.3 billion Christians believe today, and that’s because Jesus Christ's resurrection happened.

Should physical education be mandatory in all schools?

Schools in the United States require variations of classes in English, Social Science, Mathematics, and Science through a 12-year educational system, elementary to secondary school.
According to a 2016 study, out of 50 states and the District of Columbia, 39 require primary school students to take physical education, 37 for junior highers, and 44 for high school students.
Shape America states that only six states mandate physical education in every grade level (IL, HI, MA, MS, NY, and VT), while three states require nationally recommended 150-minute weekly exercise.
The Centers for Disease and Control Prevention (CDC) assert that “children and adolescents ages 6 to 17 years do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous physical activity daily.”

While physical education and health are undoubtedly essential areas of life and growth, there are numerous valid reasons why they should not be mandatory in our schools:
First, the US has fallen outside the top 10 in global academic rankings. One significant factor contributing to this is the need for adequate funding for schools. Schools may only have the means to offer some, not all, pupils high-quality physical education lessons because the subject frequently calls for specialized equipment, facilities, and qualified instructors. With this in mind, slots currently reserved for physical education could also be better used to offer students an opportunity to grow academically, as this should be the main focus of primary education.
Furthermore, compulsory physical education lessons might burden some students with physical restrictions or impairments that prevent them from participating in physical education activities. This reality would further alienate an important demographic of the student body. This and other factors can also lead to numerous safety concerns associated with physical education. Considering the woes mentioned above about the current education system, it is often the case that schools don't have policies in place to guarantee the security of all pupils.
Giving physical education a mandatory place in primary school curriculums can also lead to increased and unnecessary stress levels and pressure on some students. If a kid is not naturally athletic or is not interested in team sports, physical education classes may be a source of these negative emotions during an important developmental phase of life.

Physical education is essential to a child's development, alongside other forms of education (such as mental, emotional, and social). Together, these lead to a healthy, well-balanced, and successful adult.
Phys Ed classes have sometimes had a negative perception or effect on students. This is primarily due to a need for more qualified instructors and resources. Such issues led to classes that were often a waste of time for some students and a source of anxiety or even bullying for others.
However, this is not to say that all PE classes are harmful or unnecessary. More modern PE classes at many schools offer a more comprehensive range of activities that are much less of a one-size fits all solution. These provide more activities that suit students' varying interests and needs (like yoga, stretching, individual sports, martial arts, etc.). Every student can find the activity that suits their physical and mental needs or circumstances.
America has some of the highest obesity rates in the world, and many adults do not know how to exercise, stretch, or be in touch with their physical bodies. This greatly strains our medical system and decreases our overall longevity and quality of life.
Instilling proper physical education ideals into these students early on in life will improve their overall health as individuals as well as benefit our society and economy in the long run. We do not need to abolish PE just because some have had bad experiences. Instead, we need to reform it and design a new curriculum that addresses the unique, holistic needs of the students.

Congressional elections occur every two years to determine who is elected to Congress to represent the state in the US House and Senate and occur every two years. Local elections include voting for city mayors, governors, school board members, etc., and voting for or against ballot initiatives in an electorate’s immediate local area of living.
Presidential elections occur nationally in the US every four years where the people vote on the President and Vice President are chosen by “electors” through a process called the electoral college.
For the 2022 midterms, “nearly identical majorities of voters for candidates in both parties say they are ‘extremely’ or ‘very’ motivated to vote.”
According to the US Census Bureau, the 2020 presidential election had the highest voter turnout in the 21st century, with 155 million people sending in their votes.
The ten states with the highest rates of voter registration are: Maine, Alaska, Michigan, Kentucky, Vermont, Delaware, North Dakota, Colorado, Alabama, and New Jersey.

Despite telling their children that lying is unacceptable, parents themselves have been known to tell lies. And that’s not okay--even if it’s just a ‘harmless’ white lie.
According to the principles of the Respectful Parenting movement, there’s no need to lie to children. Children need to know the truth about the world around them as long as it doesn’t traumatize them. Therefore, made-up stories involving Santa Claus and the Tooth Fairy shouldn’t be part of their upbringing. As harmless as these lies may seem, four out of five experts believe children may be devastated upon learning about their parents’ deceit.
In fact, any act to withhold the truth--even if it’s to protect children themselves--decreases the level of trust in the home. It makes children feel disconnected from their parents, preventing them from functioning as a team. Further, the damage seeps into their future friendships and relationships, inflicting lifelong harm.
Parenting by lying also sends the message that lying is an acceptable habit, making children embrace it rather than honesty. And this has been proven by a 2017 study. According to researchers, young adults exposed to parents who lied admitted to frequently lying to their parents themselves. The same study also revealed higher levels of psychological maladjustment when children of lying parents reach adulthood. Researchers detected depression, emotional difficulties, aggression, and antisocial personality problems in study subjects. These issues were most substantial when parents were the targets of dishonesty.
So, with so much at risk in the present and future, parents must always be honest with their children.

While lying is generally viewed as bad in our society, there are times when obscuring the truth is necessary, and many of these involve children. Our adult brains are more fully developed than our children's, and we can process complex and nuanced information that could prove too difficult for them. When topics such as death, war, or violence come up, we rightly withhold information that is not age appropriate. For instance, we may explain that war is a disagreement--without mentioning genocide. By stating these lies, we help protect our children from pain and potential damage to their development that could come from exposing them to extreme violence or sexually inappropriate material. Simply put, children are not fully developed cognitively, and it is suitable for us to lie to them at times in order to protect them.
Further, sometimes lying to children is the sensible thing to do. Maybe the grocery store aisle isn't the best place for a full and frank discussion of whatever random question a young child has asked--as children are known to blurt out whatever questions come to mind. If a child spots someone passed out by the convenience store, fully explaining the ins and outs of addiction probably isn't appropriate. Simply lying and saying they're sleeping may be a more reasonable response. In these cases, little white lies allow us to keep moving through our days.
Finally, sometimes lying to children is just plain fun and allows us (and our children) to enjoy the innocence of childhood, such as when we tell them about Santa, the Easter Bunny, or the Tooth Fairy. Surely no one would call these lies harmful or damaging.
