I headcanon that Rarity has no experience dating mares, only having gone out with stallions before. When Simon was a baby, he was found on the doorstep of the Sullivan's, who quickly adopted him as the family's little brother. The Sullivans live in Washington D.C. The mother is a writer and activist and the father is an educator. Captain Samuel (33) is a veteran of WWI, Thea (21) is a recent graduate of Howard University, and Simon (12) is still surviving junior high school.

Simon and Thea now live in Ponyville, Nebraska together, following Thea's employment as the small country town's resident librarian.

Born and raised in a small mining town in New Mexico. Calida and María Molina have stayed behind to support their parents while Rosita and Madelina have gone off to pursue their dreams. Madelina recently obtained her Ph.D. in geology from Las Cruces College. Rosita works as a baking apprentice and entertainer in Ponyville, Nebraska. Madelina is the eldest, Calida the middle child, and Rosita and María Molina (non-identical) twins.
