You’d heard every inch of the west was full of snakes and liars just waiting to get their hands on the crown and official positions long kept by the Nero family line and their friends, many factions opposed this nepotism in silence. Most families were too afraid they would also meet the same dark fate as others who were either too brave or lacking in mental capacity yet loudly voiced their disapproval disappearing from the kingdom altogether. Well, those were the things you had heard as your carriage traveled through the snowy mountains to the castle. Just one night at an inn or a brief stop in any small town along the way to the capital would have you drowning in gossip about Risotto Nero or one of his savage dogs.
