I was inspired by @realpokemon blog to give the irl Pokémon trend a go

so apparently there are phobia for different Pokemon types witch i am not going to list, but now i'm just curious what people think is the most common type to have a phobia of?

i think bug and ghost are the most common mainstream fears. but the FUNNIEST one is definitely the fear of normal types

update on the "nihilego" recording

so we've re-scanned recordings from the past month and it turns out that there are actually more of this nihilego's cries that the AI (which is very good usually. Sarah trains it herself) misidentified as rookidee, which aren't an uncommon intrusion here during migration season so it was largely ignored.

but it turns out that apparently, in every recording featuring either a not-rookidee-nihilego or a buzzwole—and a video Sarah found on the internet of some weird tree made of electricity and wires, which is apparently a pokemon—there is a steady note of 21 kilohertz every time those specific pokemon cry.

that's just outside the range of average human hearing, and more notably a really high-pitched sound that most pokemon don't actually make, with the exception of Noibat, Zubat, Swoobat, and Natu (and their associated evolutions).

unfortunately, this means that filtering any nocturnal recordings is useless (lots of woobat around here. they are very talkative on the edges of human hearing), and apparently these specific Things are also nocturnal in nature, because there's only like three diurnal recordings with this frequency that we could filter, whereas we have like 20 overnight maybe-rookidees.

So tomorrow myself, Sarah, and a few of the Dragon Scouts are going to go stake out the spots where it was recorded during the day, and follow it back to the portal.

wish us luck! apparently it's rock/poison and not a fish so we're bringing Sarah's diglett army just in case

sarah is a poke-audiologist. she has a doctorate. we hired her specifically to identify pokemon species from the audio recordings of the woods so that we can keep track of invasives popping up and cut them off before the ecosystem gets too unbalanced. she will hear a newly-hatched pokemon chirp once and tell you its species, gender, and nature. the last time I heard her say "what's that sound" there was a fucking buzzwole in my yard ready to stab me and now she's sent me an audio clip labeled "unidentifiable flying type??". thank you Sarah. Fuck
