Cool rainbow pictures!
Tumblr media
I made instructions on my crafting site on how to use a Cricut machine to make cool rainbow pictures. Check it out if you have one, or if you don't you can just get rainbow scratch paper and hand draw your own pokemon using a stylus.

If I had it to do over (and actually I do since it's digital machine embroidery) I would change the two tentacles from cornflower blue to something less lavender like the feet. Otherwise I'm pleased with how it came out.

Pokémon Types
I got curious what the pokémon were like by type, so I made a little chart of every type up through 890 Eternatus. Pokemon with multiple types (e.g. Rotom, Meowth, etc.) were counted once for each type.
Tumblr media
I did this all by hand so I’m sure there are a few errors.
The top 10 types are:

Note the only combo in the top 10 is Normal-Flying. The next highest combo is Poison-Grass with 14 pokémon.

30 Cleffas for 30 random Pokemon
I was curious about the make-up of random trading in Sword and Shield so I made a small, unscientific experiment to look at what you can get through random trades.
Tumblr media
I bred 30 Cleffas to trade to people, Clefairy being the pokemon I found hardest to find myself, and Surprise Traded them to 30 people at 15:00GMT on November 29. Here are the results:
Tumblr media
It’s a fair mix of desirable, unvaluable, and in-between Pokemon. Dreepy being the most common trade with 4 of the 30 is no surprise.
Statistics:
Half of the Pokemon were Japanese, two were Spanish, one German and one Taiwanese Chinese, the rest were from English games.
Tumblr media
19 were from their original trainer and 11 were not.
The median level was 14 and the mode was 1.
Only one had a nickname, a Ryhorn named “Horny”.
Tumblr media
But, don’t credit Jeff for the hilarity, the OT was someone named Josh. Bon mot, Josh.
Overall I’m very pleased with how the random, Surprise Trade works in Pokemon Sword and Shield. I think there are problems with Link Trade, but that’s for another time.

I found an Ivysaur pattern by a T4124 on Google and my rough success despite my lack of sewing skills is a testament to how nice the pattern is.

My niblings (nieces and nephews) chose Let’s Go Pikachu, so I got Let’s Go Eevee today. I wanted to share my pokemon ocarina tabs if anyone is into ocarinas.

Tumblr media
Well, I can’t really do the naka part of the Japanese Pokemon opening, but here’s the melodic chorus. I’m playing it waiting for Let’s Go Eevee to download. If you prefer the American opening it’s here.  And if you want even more Japanese Pokemon songs try this.

A little story
So, having seen season 1 of American Pokemon and being a huuuge fan of Hayashibara Megumi (Jessie/Musashi), I was pretty confident about enjoying this Pokemon song by Team Rocket.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MHZoQHCzLC4
The only problem was Jessie/Musashi in the middle of it was randomly screeching “そうなんす” (roughly, “that’s right”). It took a couple of years (without seeing the video), but I did finally figure out that Megumi was voicing a pokemon (Wobbuffet/Sounansu) in addition to being Jesse/Musashi (like you can hear her being Pidgeotto in the original opening). I still think back to when I thought that Jessie/Musashi was saying that and picture this as a result

Thank you very much to everyone who followed this blog or liked a picture. I couldn’t have done this without all of your support.  I’ll be taking a break to let some new projects flourish (like physical inking and painting), but I do plan to continue pokemon art in some form and will post it here when I do. Thank you again, so much!
