So I finally played BotW

unfortunately I do not have the correct controller so the controls do not work as they should. Um, I have also never played a Zelda game before so I have little to no experience with this kind of game. But I’m not one for giving up. So far I have done only two murders but I’m up for more. (In game of course). Will update as I go along lol

I reckon the Skyborn cast will remain friends, even tho they can be toxic to each other. No friend group is perfect, and throughout phoenix flight we can see them making efforts to be better to each other. Especially in the epilogue.

I really do not think they will grow up to resent each other though, maybe that’s a bit of an exaggeration XD

fireborn and skyborn have a weird amount of surface-level similarities. it’s so funny

- series name is “[element]” born

- fantasy setting

- fire is very relevant story-wise

- Nox is a phoenix, while the main character of Fireborn is named phoenix. They’re both fire wielders to a degree.

- animal companion that saves lives!

- weird amount of violence for kids + child soldiers

things that skyborn has one fireborn

- better pacing + worldbuilding in general. also it’s consistent with its plot and changes in perspective, and it uses its unreliable narrators excellently. Fireborn can be a bit all over the place sometimes.

- tackles its themes pertaining to real life more effectively

- less predictable (imo)

- its individual characters are better and more realistically crafted

- less weird concept. like, weird in the way that these eleven year olds are not raised to kill and study giant monsters in the arctic on their own (??????)

- more creative with its fantasy concepts, whereas Fireborn doesn’t spend that much time helping the reader visualize and understand the magic.

- better and more pointed dialogue

things that fireborn has on skyborn

- the characters, and i cannot stress this enough, actually like each other

- seriously. I don’t think there’s a scenario where the skyborn main cast stays friends. Or, at least, I don’t think Ellie will stay friends with them. They’re all wildly codependnet and toxic to each other, and it’s very funny and interesting, but it’s also never resolved.

- fireborn main cast, on the other hand, actually communicate and support eachother. They have complimentary personalities and interests, and they can count on each other to be honest about their feelings, even in life-threatening situations. Especially in life threatening situations. Also especially when a giant evil tree is forcing them to. You get the idea.

- its villains also aren’t stellar but it’s a step up from skyborn’s garion, who im sorry to say is so so boring. They’re more intimidating and Victory has at least A backstory.

- its banger lines actually fit. Skyborn has a weird habit of stuffing really poetic lines in dialogue for no reason. Fireborn earns them.

- the characters will not grow up to resent each other. jesus christ ellie, when you pleaded with the bounty hunter to spare your lives, you still managed to make nox feel unimportant to you. jesus christ nox, you somehow managed to forget ellie also witnessed her parents’ death in front of her and told her she’d “never understand you.” what is wrong with you guys.
