a coincidental wrong text to say good morning.. just what daniel needed when he had spent so much time trying hard not to do anything like this until he got home. no, not even when tour was over.. after tour, he is planning on going to los angeles with matt champion and nick lenzini, and even though he had done something along these lines with nick before, he had a feeling the sentiment wouldn’t be there now. this “stephen’s” grandma was just about to be robbed of whatever she was planning to send her grandson, and daniel is drowning in guilt, but wouldn’t couldn’t see a way out of it... he sent her the address to a P.O. box that he’d been keeping for other packages he swindled from more deserving folk, and he won’t even get to see the contents until he gets back from his trip. until then, guilt will most likely be chipping away at his conscience.

since extending the invitation for nala to stay over in his flat, dan’s itch to find somebody to “scam” has been growing, the fact that they were sharing a bed now making it ten times more difficult. if he wanted to he probably could have snuck around and carried on, but a part of him worried that nala would find his messages with no context and he’d be in a hole he dug for himself. apart from that, things have been pretty smooth sailing. dan asked nala out officially yesterday, while nick and matt voluntarily bought him a ticket for la for when the festival wraps up, so that he can visit them.

it’s been a fairly slow week for daniel, apart from spending time with nala. her original plan was to stay for about five days, but dan extended an invitation for her to stay in his apartment. he’s excited for her to stay a little bit longer, but part of him is a little worried that he’s going to get exhausted from the attention and appear distant— the joys of being an introvert. he already feels paranoid that he’s been a little more short with her in the past day or two, but he’s hoping that’s just his anxiety chalking it up into something bigger than it really was. with nala around, dan hasn’t ventured into any apps of any sort to try to get money from anybody. part of the reason is the fact that he’s been wrapped up in nala but he also just doesn’t want her to catch him in the act somehow. instead, he’s been trying to involve himself in his filming for youtube.

after having such a chaotic week prior, daniel tried his hardest to lay low this week. a lack of activity did cause a spike in his depression for a couple of days, but he’s in higher spirits by now. nala and him have been speaking regularly (as they have been) and they arranged to meet in london tomorrow— nala’s arranged to stay there for about five days and they have already spoken about having a few date nights in between. daniel’s depressive episode gradually subsided with this fact in mind, but now he’s slightly nervous to have her sole attention on him. he hopes that this’ll subside in a day or so, but he thinks it’s showing through their conversations. as for his side hustling, dan felt slightly guilty after the achromatic indirectly pointed out his wrongdoing, even though he’s sure there’s nothing wrong with it. in his mind, he’s redistributing the wealth, since his process involves a lot of research surrounding people who have a ridiculous amount of assets or have a reputation of splurging a bit too much on themselves.

just when daniel thinks he can’t have a crazier week, the following week begs to differ. after spending time with both nala and joe in tokyo, dan found himself into two people at once, which was a unique situation for the male. he kept the news under wraps for a day or two with the exception of a few friends, but gained enough confidence to break the news to the both of them on the same night. joe immediately gave dan the cold shoulder and seemed to magnify the issue into something bigger than it was, while nala was reassuring and kind to dan. joe’s actions, however, led dan to tears, and seeking counsel from nala- she ended up coming to his aide in his hotel room for moral support. from then on, dan felt perpetually anxious and could feel himself acting differently with both of them, especially with joe. it was the way he reacted that put him off. a few days later, joe approached him similarly about the way he’d shifted his attitude, and it led dan to an even higher point of frustration, again ending in tears. dan was slowly starting to realize that if joe was acting this way before anything official, he wasn’t going to be able to survive in an official relationship with the boy. yesterday, joe wanted to speak to dan about the first argument, but it ended with dan expressing that he didn’t want to pursue anything with him any longer. joe seemed to take it pretty hard, but dan had been hurt so many times in a row by the younger male that he didn’t even flinch. in fact, he feels less stressed and is confident he made the right decision by choosing to focus on nala. the two have talked about the situation and want to meet up again before the next festival, but no details have been discussed. as an end to the week, dan decided to up his self-esteem a bit with a small project. he posed as a uni student who went by the name of “greg,” who after about an hour of talking to a businessman he found while coasting linkedin, scored himself about two grand for a “plane ticket” he had no intention of purchasing. instead, dan redeemed the cash this morning and donated it to the make a wish charity.

this past week has been a whirlwind for dan— it seemed like the seven days had actually lasted seventy and it was his personal hell. he spent new years eve with friends and a friend’s dog, and didn’t share a kiss at midnight with anybody out of his own stubbornness. but then again, cindy had briefly hinted to it the following morning. he’s sure she was just teasing, though. dan had a talk with nalani the following day because she wanted to talk to him about whether he was interested in her or not. he was, and still kind of is, but that leads to the opening of another can of worms. while dan went on a date with nala on tuesday to see pandas, he fell slightly ill the next day and contracted the help of joe keery, who had offered to bring him food to help settle his stomach. what started as an innocent snack exchange lead to a cuddle, which lead to a kiss, to multiple kisses and joe laying on top of him. it also resulted in joe asking dan out on a date, so now he’s very very conflicted. dan hates being in a position where so much attention is put on him, but he can’t bring himself to stir any confrontation between people. he’s a little relieved that he’ll be able to go home soon to avoid everybody, but in the meantime he likes to pretend that the problems can be swept under the rug.

dan spent his christmas with family, and though he had to control himself with alcohol due to his antidepressants, he was careful as always not to drink too much, in case he blurted out something about his “side hustle.” even though dan’s “heist” with lydia hadn’t really repeated itself this week, he did catfish people on his flight into tokyo. however, he got involved with that one moreso to make him feel better about himself. dan’s been talking to nalani a lot— they’d started off as just friends, but over the past week and a half, they’ve been hitting it off and have a date planned for tuesday. they even had an impromptu breakfast together. he confides in matt champion and nick lenzini with his issues, but only nick knows about what he gets involved with in terms of his catfishing antics, since he’s helped him with jobs once in a while. he’s not sure if it’ll be feasible to do anything while in japan for the sake of logistics and the stakes of looking suspicious for always being on his phone in public/on the job. doesn’t mean that his eyes and ears won’t be open for opportunities, though.

while dan largely goes solo on his hunt for people to catfish for cash, he’s put his confidence into nick lenzini for certain individuals recently. on monday, it was an unknowing old woman by the name of lydia robinson, who dan had found while scrolling through art collectors’ facebook pages. dan and nick managed to take nearly £6,000 from the woman, not including a pair of air jordans and a vetements jumper dan had been eyeing recently. as compensation, dan gave nick £800, but gave the rest of the cash to a children’s hospital in the spirit of the holiday season.
