the update on this is that we hit da bricks and got married despite in-laws being true haters. were fine now. it sucked and it is still developing and were no contact, but were fine now

It would be great, splendid even, if my bodily autonomy was respected by my in-laws and I wasn't only treated as the "next wife", the incubator for their "blood line" and pressured to use other arbitrary rules like taking the last name to continue their "legacy".
