His eyebrows perked. "It's good to see you regardless! I'm quite glad you stopped by, I've been excited about this course for some time now. Do you generally study literature, Tails?"
Class Dismissed
"Ah, no. I’m just here for a few days. Sonic and I are on vacation.", he explained. "However, I couldn’t resist to sit in on a lecture."

It was truly good to see the fox again. The professor smiled. "I've been quite well! It was good to see you in class today, dear boy; will you be joining us at Spagonia for a semester?"
Class Dismissed
It was an interesting lecture for sure, though Tails knew he wouldn’t be returning for any more sessions. Spagonia was too far away to attend all those classes. Still, it was nice actually hearing the professor lecture. That was something he hadn’t witnessed before.
"Sure.", Tails smiled and hopped down the steps towards the Professor’s office. He wasn’t surprised in the slightest that he would want to speak with him.
"Hello Professor. How have you been?"

Class Dismissed
"The point of everything we've gone over today, class, is that this course isn't going to be an ordinary literary analysis course. As you'll learn by following the texts in your syllabi, Mobian rights are far from guaranteed in today's society. While many marginalized humans still fight for their own civil rights, Mobians have had a delicate and sore history that only literature can reveal and discuss. It's important that we, as scholars of literature, use our knowledge, abilities, and resources to bring these stories to life and make them matter now."
Pickle paused as he watched his class quickly study their syllabi. Every year he noted a slightly larger non-human presence in his classes, which is part of why the University board reluctantly approved this course, and this year was no different. He was particularly interested in the familiar orange figure near the center of the room, who watched carefully for his teacher to continue.
"With this in mind, your first assigned reading is an ancient document from a long-dead society centered near Holoska, what some say is a Mobian Magna Carta. This document was authored years before similar documents created by humans. Once you've read it, I want you to write an analysis that answers this question: do you believe Mobians value their civil rights as much as humans do? You will not be judged on your opinion, as there is no right answer; as with all of my literary analysis classes, you will be graded on your writing, your structure and flow, and how effectively you've communicated your analysis to the reader. Does anyone have any questions?"
After answering a couple brief questions on course content, on essay requirements, on quizzes, and the like, Pickle collapsed his hands together and nodded swiftly. "That wraps up our first course together! Students, I expect to see you promptly back here next week. See you soon!"
As his students began to leave, his eyebrows perked and he turned toward the center of the room with a subtle smile. "Oh! Mr. Prower? I'd like to see you in my office, if you don't mind."

Class Announcement
Scholars of Spagonia U,
This is Professor Dillon Pickle with a special announcement! Starting Thursday, February 12th in Room 12B above Genesis Commons, I will be teaching a new course: "Mobians in Ancient Literature".
Mobians in Ancient Literature is a comprehensive course studying the development and history of Mobians on our planet through the lens of writers throughout time, both Mobian and human. Here, we will discuss Mobians as fighters, lovers and artists throughout history and into the future.
I plan to dig deep into exciting and risqué topics with this course, including the use of Mobian soldiers by human armies throughout history and homoerotica in ancient Mobian lit. I will also tie these ancient stories to modern developments. Students will be tasked to discuss hard-hitting and current topics such as the rights of Mobian citizens and the questionable legality of the vigilante work of Sonic the Hedgehog.
If you're interested, sign ups begin today! I do apologize for the late notice, but as you can imagine, this was a course I had to fight quite hard to get approved by the University standards board.
Thank you, and see you in class,
-PP

Please remember that the upstairs corridor is shut for repairs! To get to the location of my Tuesday/Thursday "Literature of the Mystic Ruins" course, you'll need to take the staircase to the left on the lobby and come the long way down the alternative hallway.
Thank you, and see you in class,

An Ancient Poem
Dear Friends,
The other day I stumbled upon a message in a bottle buried amongst my eighty years of cruft in the library at my home. Years ago, this was handed to me by an old friend, a colleague of mine who has long since left this university for a position at the University of Central City. He gave it to me after having found it at an ancient site in Adabat. It has a scroll in it, but it has never been opened – a radiologic study of the glass bottle revealed it to be nearly 400 years old.
When he handed it to me, he told me I could open it whenever it wanted me to do so. I placed it carefully in an old wooden box, but that got buried in another box and under other boxes and placed in a room full of boxes and lost forever. When I chanced upon it again that evening, I felt it had become time. I sat down with a cucumber sandwich and read the poem.
I don't believe I can properly translate its intent into what we consider to be our modern language, but it spoke about the power of Chaos. It appeared to have been written by the doomed survivor of some attack at sea. By the sound of it, some beast had engulfed a Chaos Emerald, and was experiencing the intense effects of its power when it attacked the ship this writer was stationed on.
I like to imagine events like these as being real, modern events. How I would feel, say, if I were on a ship with no way to communicate home that I and all my crew had been slaughtered by a monster my technology had no chance of stopping.
I advise you, students of ancient times, to explore your imagination and dream of what you would have done in historical situations. It can be refreshing to remove yourself from your present reality once in a while.
